Gracelyn’s jaw nearly hit the floor when he heard that Aurora was going to pay him a thirty percent commission on top of his prearranged wage. At first he didn’t know what to say but, once he found his voice, he asked for clarification: “Aurora, we had agreed that you would pay me double my old salary, and I was agreeable to that, so why are you increasing my wage before we’ve even opened shop? If we do not instantly make a profit, you will lose money…”
Although Gracelyn wanted the money, he had a hard time wrapping his head around the fact that it had come so easily. Previous to this moment, he had barely been able to make enough to feed himself and his eleven year old sister. Furthermore, because he had been bullied and taken advantage of in the past, he had trust issues.
