The sabotage
The explosions in the ship’s cargo hold were only the beginning of the inferno that was unleashed in the deep recesses of the vessel.
The breach that opened up quickly began to flood the ship with a huge influx of icy water. The explosions caused the cargo straps to snap so that the load shifted, which in turn caused the ship to keel over with no chance of recovering its position. The fire then ignited the ammunition and gunpowder, like a mini war taking place inside the hold, with bullets of all calibres flying in all directions, and these explosions further aggravated the already desperate situation of the ship, filling the hull with holes through which, in turn, even more water entered. The hold became a veritable sieve.
