Chapter 6: Lavish

Imperial Club, inside the private box. Edwin stood with his hands behind his back, standing in front of the full-length window, looking at the neon lights of the street outside. Behind him stood Francis, bowing respectfully. "Young Master, what are your orders?" Francis asked. "On the 23rd of next month, it's my daughter's birthday. Help me book the most luxurious Caesar Palace Hotel in Ciadeles. I want to have three hundred banquet tables set up there to entertain the city's distinguished gentlemen." Edwin's eyes gleamed. Lauren, I promised you, and I will gradually make it happen. This time, I want everyone in Ciadeles to know that Maggie is Edwin's daughter. And you, Lauren, are my wife. The wife of the Young Master of Lion Guild. And also, the future Queen of Lion Guild. Upon hearing this, Francis trembled slightly and asked, "Are you sure about doing this, Young Master?" Edwin turned back, frowned and asked, "Is it difficult?" Francis smiled and said, "For the Lytton family of Lion Guild, this is not a problem at all. However, the problem lies with the current Queen of Lion Guild. If you act so ostentatiously, it may cause dissatisfaction from her." The current Lord's wife was quite ruthless. Back then, she even expelled the Young Master and the Second Lady from Lion Guild, and even the Lord couldn't say anything. It was enough to show the power of the Queen. Edwin fell silent and said, "I won't deal with this matter. You can handle it. My requirements won't change. If that woman has any objections to me because of this, I will not inherit Lion Guild, nor will I do anything for Lion Guild." After speaking, Edwin left the Imperial Club. Francis bowed respectfully, watching Edwin leave. The Young Master seemed to have changed, becoming somewhat overbearing. Then, he lightly tapped his black gold cane on the ground, and a tall, graceful woman with a swaying waist entered the room. This woman wore a red split skirt, tied up her hair, and was extremely charming. With just a frown or a smile, she could capture a man's soul. "Mr. Carter," the woman spoke, her voice sweet and sexy. Francis said, "Do as the Young Master wishes." "Yes, Mr. Carter." The woman turned around and left the box. The next day, a major news spread throughout Ciadeles. The whole city was discussing this. Last night, a mysterious tycoon spent a fortune to rent the entire Caesar Palace for the whole day on the 23rd! Caesar Palace, the most luxurious hotel in Ciadeles, was a six-star hotel! Just the cost of staying there for one night started from a million! Now, a mysterious tycoon had rented Caesar Palace for a whole day, and preliminarily estimated put the cost at least fifty million! And that was just the rental fee! Soon after, news came out again that the mysterious tycoon who rented Caesar Palace did it to celebrate his three-year-old daughter's birthday. This news once again shocked Ciadeles! So rich! Who was this person that could spend so much just to celebrate his daughter's birthday? For a while, the whole city of Ciadeles was discussing it. And inside the Duncan family's company, it was no exception. Early in the morning, employees in the company began discussing it enthusiastically. "Hey, did you hear? A mysterious tycoon has rented Caesar Palace for fifty million on the 23rd!" "I knew it early on. They said it's for his daughter's birthday. He's so rich, she's like a little princess!" "On the 23rd, so many people are looking forward to that day. They say he's inviting three hundred tables of people. That's at least a hundred million in expenses!" A group of gossiping employees couldn't stop talking all morning. "Heh, if I remember correctly, isn't the 23rd also the birthday of our Director Duncan's daughter?" Someone suddenly mentioned it. Suddenly, all the employees fell silent. "No way, could it be that Director Duncan rented Caesar Palace?" "No, you all know Director Duncan's position in the Duncan family. I might believe it if you said it was Hamiltion Duncan." "Don't talk nonsense, I found out that the person who rented Caesar Palace is not from the Duncan family." While everyone was discussing, Lauren walked into the company and passed by the lobby. She wore a white fitted shirt on top and a black professional skirt on the bottom. Her slender legs were wrapped in sheer black stockings. She had light makeup on and her hair was tied up in a ponytail, making her look very capable. However, as soon as she entered the company, she felt everyone's strange gazes. She heard the news early in the morning, and as she scanned the eyes cast her way, she quickly walked into her office. As soon as she arrived at her office, she closed the door like she was fleeing, leaning her back against the door, looking helpless. Who exactly was it, who rented Caesar Palace on the 23rd, causing her to once again become the target of public attention? Lauren was angry. Was this person intentionally making things difficult for her? And it happened to be on the 23rd. After working for a while, Woodrow walked in with sarcasm and went straight to the sofa, looking at Lauren who was busy working, mocking, "Lauren, have you heard? Someone rented the entire Caesar Palace for their daughter's birthday on the 23rd." Lauren ignored Woodrow and continued typing on the keyboard. Woodrow laughed sarcastically, "Heh, same birthday, but someone's daughter is celebrating at Caesar Palace, while someone else's daughter can only be in the hospital. Isn't that ridiculous?" Suddenly, Lauren stopped typing on the keyboard, her face turning cold as she said to Woodrow, "If you have nothing else, please leave." Woodrow shrugged, showing an unbothered look, and said, "Oh, you're angry, who can you blame for that? Both are fathers, but the other one gave his daughter the qualification to celebrate her birthday. What about Edwin? He doesn't even have the qualification to celebrate Maggie's birthday." "Go out!" Lauren's face finally turned cold, pointing to the door and shouting. Woodrow stood up, chuckling a few times, saying, "Lauren, the mid-year summary of Duncan family's company is in two days. This time, I will kick you out of the company!" After speaking, Woodrow put his hands in his pockets and left humming a tune. After Woodrow left, tears welled up in Lauren's eyes. She wiped them away, took a deep breath, and continued to bury her head in her work. However, the more she worked, the more annoyed she felt! For four years, she could tolerate others' ridicule towards herself. But, she couldn't tolerate others mocking her daughter. In the end, she pounded the keyboard a few times, buried her head on the desk, sobbing quietly for a while. She raised her tear-stained face, took out her phone, and quickly sent Edwin a text message, "Edwin, where are you! I want to see you! Immediately!" It was all because of him, even Maggie would become a laughingstock. She was only three years old. Edwin was currently at work, having just bid farewell to a few wealthy women who came for beauty treatments. When he received Lauren's text message, he was slightly stunned as well. Who made his wife angry again? "I'm at work, what's wrong? I'll come to you right away." Edwin replied, then explained to the team leader, and rode his bike to Duncan's company. At the entrance of the company, as soon as Edwin parked his bike, a figure approached him with a chilly aura. Slap! With teary eyes, Lauren slapped Edwin's face coldly, crying, "It's all because of you! Why are you Maggie's father, why are you my husband!" Facing Lauren's hysteria, Edwin was stunned. "Lauren, what's wrong?" Edwin asked. Lauren wiped away the tears from her face, glancing coldly at Edwin, and asked, "Don't you know yet? Do you know what the 23rd means?" "Yeah, I know, it's Maggie's birthday," Edwin replied. "Do you know what happened in Ciadeles today? Everyone is mocking me and Maggie. On the same birthday, someone rented the entire Caesar Palace, and you, Edwin, don't even have the right to celebrate Maggie's birthday!" Lauren couldn't hold back anymore, squatting on the ground, covering her face, and crying loudly, "Why does Maggie, at only three years old, have to endure their criticism and cold eyes?" Edwin stood there, looking at Lauren, and he understood. Then, he clenched his fist and said, "Lauren, do you know who rented the Caesar Palace?" Lauren raised an eyebrow, stood up, and looked at Edwin coldly, asking, "Who? Is it you?"
