When The Wind Blows Over

It's a hot afternoon in the city of Lagos; the street vendors have occupied their spaces, agberos are on their 5th fight for the day, and drivers are raining curses on each other. Somewhere in the busy city of Lagos, in a small cute café on the island. Faith is sitting at a table with a cup of coffee as she types away on her laptop. The door to the café chimes, and two girls walk in. Ignoring them, Faith focuses on her work without paying much attention to the new additions in the café. Still typing away, a loud screech got her attention. Looking up for the first time, she makes eye contact with the source of the notice and squirts her eyes. "Naya?" "OMG Faith? Is that you?" Faith stands up with a smile while Naya runs towards her, engulfing her in a big hug. "Yes, it is me. How are you?" "I am fine, thank you. My day was about to be ruined, but you just brightened it." Completely ignoring the lady she came with, she pulls the chair opposite Faith and sits down. Faith looks towards the girl, who looks awkward, and offers her a seat. Naya looks back as if remembering her friend and urging her to come sit with them. "I can't believe it's you. I haven't seen you since you left Queen's College in SS3. Where have you been, what are you up to now? In fact, I don't think this is the time or place for this. " She pulls out her phone and hands it over to Faith. "Put your phone number in there." Turning to her friend who was sitting beside her "Sorry Bukky, this is Faith, Faith this is Bukky. Faith was my best friend in secondary school. Her mom came to pick her up from school one day, and we never heard from her." Reaching out and taking Faith's hands in hers, ''I have missed you. We have a lot of catching up to do.'' Releasing her hands, she smiles at both girls. "It's my birthday getaway this weekend. Clear your schedule. I don't want any excuses. We are going on a trip. I have your number now, So I will call you tonight." Naya's phone starts to ring. "Hello, I have been waiting for you, you said noon, but you weren't around. Are you there now? Fine, I am close to you, see you in 10." Faith watches Naya in silence. Naya looks up just in time and returns the smile. "I have to go now, I have an appointment. I will call you tonight so we can have that conversation. It's so good to see you again." "It was lovely to see you, Naya. I will be waiting for your call tonight." Bukky stands up and waves at Faith then walks away without waiting for Naya. Naya stands and goes to Faith's side of the table, hugging her once more. "Later babes" She begins walking in a hurry towards the door to meet up with Bukky.
