chapter 23
Xander pov
Why did Amanda have to say anything like that? Now she's going to think I am hiding something from her. Looking at LeeAnn, she looked so tired. Of course, Marking each other can drain you, so I walked her to the bed, moving the suitcases out of the way, i helped her change into one of my shirts, since I was taller than she was, the shirt went down to her knees making it look like half a dress. I couldn't help but admire her body,
“You do know you're going to need to tell her. You can't take that decision away from her.”
“Yeah I know. But right now, let's just enjoy the moment. We have the ceremony tomorrow, then she will go to work. I'll need to have my trister guards watching over her, and that reminds me I need to get a hold of my workers.” I mindlinked them, letting them know where to go in the morning. I got the list and told them what to do and buy whatever that needs to be bought and get it done. They replied to me, saying yes, my king. Then I shut the link off. I changed my clothes but decided I didn't want to scare her when she woke up so I wore a T-shirt and boxers. Got into bed, pulling her close to my chest. Tomorrow after the ceremony, I will have her look at the contract, and hopefully, she will sign it. I need to figure out how I'm going to tell her that I'm cursed to die if I don't have a pup in the next three years. Will she be able to fall in love with me by then? Who knows.

The next morning, I woke up alone. But the knocking on the door was getting annoying. I was hoping Xander would at least want to wake up before me. I mean, we are pretending to be bonded mates. He should have waited right. Maybe I'm just being clingy, and I'm not usually like that. I better get my act together. I hurried to the door before they bash it down, I mean, geesh, any louder, they would punch a hole in it. I quickly opened the door. Amanda and some other females I didn't know were standing there. She gently pushed me to the side,
‘alright my soon to be queen, let's get you together for the ceremony.. Have you showered yet?” I shook my head no, not yet, I said.
“Alright head into the bathroom so you can do that. Make sure you wash everything we want you as clean as possible.” I thought that was pretty weird to say,
“Okay, soooo, where is the bathroom?” She laughed, pointing at the door to my right “oh okay well I didn't know. I softly laughed and hurried to the bathroom. I really had to go use it anyway. I didn't have time to look around, so I hurried, did my business, then took a quick shower, and I washed my hair and everything else twice. Just to make sure I smelled good and clean. Once I was done. I turned the water off. Grabbed a towel to put around me. That's when Amanda came into the bathroom,
“Good, you're done. Come on, we got to get you ready,” geesh such a hurry. Once back in the bedroom. She sat me down. One of the ladies started on my makeup. The other started on my hair. I really hope I didn't look like a clown. I didn't want to be laughed at.
“Don't worry darling '. You're not going to look like a clown. You're going to look beautiful.” It took them two hours to do my hair and makeup. And that's when I remembered I didn't have a dress for this ceremony.
“Wait. I don't have a dress. What am I supposed to wear?” One of the girls said.
“Don't worry, my queen, we got you.” I didn't know what that meant. But okay. After they were finally done with my hair and makeup. Amanda pulled a beautiful dress out of the closet. I wasn't even sure that thing was going to fit me. But she brought it to me, asking me to put it on, and they helped me do that. Then she pulled out the shoes to match the dress. It was a white strapless dress with a few jewels down the middle. It hung past my knees. The shoes were also white, but the heel part was not high. I was thankful for that. I didn't want to break my neck walking. The last things they put on me were the jewelry,
“Wait. I really don't need any of this.”
“My queen, of course you do. You're wearing it for the ceremony. Afterward, you can do whatever you want with it.” Sighing, I was thinking I could put it in a safe and not wear it. They had earrings. Rings bracelets and the lady part was a crown, geesh this thing was heavy. And I really didn't like wearing all of this. I don't want anyone thinking I was a golddigger. There was a knock on the door. Then it opened. It was Amanda's mate. Dell.
Excuse me, but it's time. Shall we go?”
Yeah, I think we let my cousin wait enough to see his queen. Let's get going.” I just thought of something. I had no idea where to go,
“Am I supposed to go by myself? I have no idea where to go for the ceremony.” I heard Amanda laughing.
“No silly, I'm supposed to take you. Come on, it's this way.”

I was standing out on the balcony, waiting for them to come out. It was supposed to start an hour ago. But I knew what my cousin was doing. She was making me wait. After today, things will be different. Things will change for the better, I hope. I had to send Dell to go get the girls. I have waited enough. I was sick of standing out here myself. And my people were getting restless, just standing and waiting. It took them twenty more minutes to get out here, and when I turned around, my mouth fell open. LeeAnn looked beautiful in the white gown. She didn't look comfortable with all the jewelry on. It was probably heavy on her, I held her hand to gently pull her to me. I whispered in her ear.
“You look beautiful, my love. It was worth the wait to see you. Come and see the kingdom they have been waiting for you.” she blushed a deep red that I thought was so adorable on her. The elder came up, and he was doing the ceremony. He stood beside us with the ceremonial rope in his hand. Then he began to speak to the crowd that was gathered before us
Ladies and gentlemen, we are gathered here today to witness something wonderfully. Your king has found his queen.” Everyone cheered for us. King Xander Queen LeeAnn, please hold hands. And so we did. He wrapped the rope around our hands. He looked back out. Then back at us.
*So the ceremony can not start until I see your marks.” He looked at our marking spot on our necks, and sure enough, he saw them, then he spoke again.
The markings are there, we shall now start.
LeeAnn, do you promise to stand by your king to help the people of the kingdom? To fight beside your king. To help him whenever he needs help. To help fight for the kingdom when it is time to do so. Do you promise to always be loyal and faithful to him, to always be loyal and faithful to the kingdom?” When he was done asking her. She said
“Yes I promise. I will never let anything or anyone harm the kingdom. I will do my best to keep them safe from harm's way.” He unwrapped our hands. Then said,
Please give me the palm of your right hand. We did what he had asked. Then he took a dagger, slicing out palms. Letting the blood drip down onto the ground. He then said, "Put your hands together." we did just that, and then he wrapped our hands again, letting each other's blood mixed together. Then after a moment. He asked me the same: "Do you promise to always be loyal and faithful to her?" Do you promise to always be by her side and fight beside her? To always be honest with her.
When I said yes, he held our arms up. Behold your new Queen.” Everyone erupted in cheering and howls,
“Everyone, please go to the hall. There is food and drinks there, eat and drink as much as you like. We should be there shortly.” I took LeeAnn back to our room.
“You look so uncomfortable with all this on you. Are you okay?”
“She started taking all the jewelry off of her, including the crown. She placed them neatly down on the vanity that I had bought for her before she had gotten here.
I'm okay now. The jewelry just weighed me down, that's all. Is there a safe where I can place this stuff at.”
“Of course there is.” I walked over to one of the large paintings on my bedroom wall. I opened it. They opened the safe.
“You can put them in here for safe keeping.” I watched her pick them up and carefully put them inside the safe. I shut the safe by spinning the knob around, then shut the photo to the wall.
“This is all amazing and all. But I don't need all of this fancy stuff.” I couldn't help but softly laugh.
“I know, but it's custom to wear it during ceremonies. That will be the only time . You will have to wear that. The other jewelry is in the walk-in closet. But I know you don't have time, you have to get to work. I'll drive you. But I think you need to change first.”
