DOVE I stormed out of the dining area, slamming the door shut behind me. My face twisted into a scowl as I fumed in outrage, my fists clenched at my sides. I needed to get out. The pack house suddenly felt stifling, the atmosphere suffocating, pressing down on me like a weight I couldn’t bear. I stepped outside without hesitation, not even caring that my shoes were the least suitable for running. I sprinted forward, my flats sinking slightly into the earth as I pushed myself toward the woods. The moment I reached the forest, the tension in my chest loosened, if only slightly. The trees swayed in the gentle breeze, their leaves rustling beneath my hurried footsteps as I ran deeper and deeper, losing myself in the wilderness. I didn’t know how long I had been running. Minutes? An hour?
