::Sarah's POV::
I remember riding on the back of Adam. Zooming in hyper speed deeper into the territory. I could hear the panic thoughts of the civilians around us. In their homes I heard a family feel concerned of the future of their children. Another household were arguing about their fears for their unborn child.
All these thoughts came rushing to my ears and I wish I could deafen them out.
''The luna probably died!''
''Did she run away from her responsibilities?''
Alpha Drake will rip us apart!''
And many more...
Adam stopped below a lit room. I recognized the building instantly, it was the same one I had a one on one talk with Veronica.
He positioned himself and then made a swift leap into the window on the second floor.
When we landed he gently angled his body and allowed me to get off of him.
''Thank you Adam.'' I took in a breath.
His wolf nodded and then pointed at his room with his snout. I scurried along and closed the door. I dropped down to my knees.
These were the thoughts of my clan. They were in despair with no signs of hope. What hurt me most was that they had no positive thoughts about me. I felt so damn pathetic.
''Don't worry about what others think of you.'' Adam said on the other side of the door.
His voice was at the same level as I was so I knew he was also down and out sitting against the door.
''You can never satisfy everyone.'' he inputted.
He was right.
Right now was not the time to be sulking about other's opinions. I had to save them regardless of what they thought of me.
''But,-'' my confidence crashed, ''What am I supposed to do?''
''Keep trying.'' I heard him barely mumble.
I looked around and saw a closet with a robe.
''I didn't use the other one. You can freshen up before your stinky ass makes me unable to sleep tonight.'' I felt his smile.
I chuckled. But not for long.
I got up and grabbed the robe and towel. I saw the master bathroom was to my left and hit the shower.
But then, I could still hear the thoughts.
''I believe in our luna. She's the only one who can snap the alpha out of it.''
''But we haven't found our luna. What are we going to do?''
''We can only hope for a miracle.''
''Yes because she was one.''
As the hot water droplets made their way down my skin I realized what Adam had meant. There will always be those who don't know, those who do. But, there will always be two sides to every story.
I had to shut down the channel links. Right now I needed to have peace. Peace and Adam.
I finished and opened Adam's bedroom door. He was sitting on the side of the wall just waiting for me.
''Are you okay?'' I asked.
''Am I okay?!'' he looked at me then narrowed his eyes, ''For someone who disappeared into thin air for over 2 months. Someone who miraculously appeared in the night air. With her best friend in a frenzied pack... Am I okay?''
I know he wasn't able to break it into words, but his emotions were clear in every word. 2 months? Has that much time actually pass?
It felt like only a few days!
But Adam still had those white eyes, that no sleep expression. His soul and heart drained to its limit. He looked like as empty shell.
''I'm sorry.'' was all I could say.
''Apologize...'' he looked away, ''When you are finished fixing this whole bullshit.''
He then looked at me, ''Although I basically have to keep an eye on you. Now, I need to protect you. Because you always getting f*****g kidnapped one moment then beaten up badly the next.''
Those words stung me, but he couldn't have been any more truthful.
But the thought that kept ringing in my head, I fought my inner thoughts.
About Trey.
Apart of me said good riddance, the other was concerned for him. As much as he did annoy me we had bonded as friends within the past couple of months that in time I had not realized it had gone passed.
Or was it a spell of his?
Nonetheless I would be lying if I had said I regretted it.
Trey did save me, and I was going to promise him the happiness he deserved.
The only dilemma I had left was to tell Adam about Trey.
''What do you think of vampires?'' I asked bluntly.
''Vampires? You're talking about blood sucking, allergic to the light, those vampires?''
Little did he know vampires could blend in the sun light just fine, ''Yes those.''
''You literally just got here and the first thing you want to talk about are non-existent creatures?'' he tilted his head, ''Maybe you should get checked out by Head Nurse Diana just in case.''
''No.'' I exclaimed, ''It's not like that.''
But how was I going to explain that.
Adam straightened himself and soon propped back on his feet, ''Are you hungry?'' he asked.
My attention literally focused on him.
''Of course. Your fat ass is always hungry.'' and signaled me to go into the living room.
He rang up the front desk from the hotel phone and ordered basically three courses from the menu.
''Oh yeah make sure the tuna steak is extra lemon-ey.''
He knew me well, for I always had a spot for citrus taste.
As he hung up the phone he then looked back at me.
''You may explain yourself now.''
''Well... that's why I was asking you about your opinion on vampires...'' this became awkward real quick because he still shot me that look that I was insane.
But I guess he wouldn't understand so he started off the convo.
''I wasn't signaling for you to get on me by the way. I thought you were going to transform into your wolf.''
Now I was silent, but because I knew exactly why I couldn't.
''I don't know what happened.'' I tried to explain, but he butted in.
''You were pregnant. I'm sorry for your loss Sarah.'' he began to sulk.
The reminder of me losing my baby dug an unhealed wound even deeper than it had been before.
Then Gina's words still rang in my head, ''You will gain one, but lose two.''
Well I already had lost two! Where was my gain? Did she mean losing Jen and my angel to gain Drake back?
''Heard lover boy is sexually frustrated right now.''
''You're not making anything better.'' I shook my head at him.
''Well how am I supposed to help you if you don't tell me anything! Like the only thing I know is that I am seasons behind about you. You have to talk to me and tell me. Talk Sarah.''
''I met a vamp-''.
Then I blacked out.
I could feel my body shut down, and my eyes following suit. I felt my body hit the floor, but I did not feel the pain it should have felt. I saw the visual of Adam disappear by darkness.
And there I was, in the dark, yet again. I was unconscious. I woke up in third person and frantically looked around.
''So you decided to leave me after all huh?'' that voice! Trey!
I looked towards the direction the voice was coming from. And there he stood arms tucked together as usual. A flutter in my heart blossomed, but his face wasn't all too amused.
''I-'' I tried to speak, but he cut me off.
''Save it.'' he said with a cold tone, ''You made your choice. Now good bye.'' he turned his body away.
Huh? Why was he going away?
''Wait!'' I had to tell him, ''I met Gina.'' my body filling with nervousness.
He turned around instantly, ''You're lying!'' his face scrunched up in seriousness.
''No...'' I was defeated, ''I met her, but she's not here here.'' way to go professor.
''You make no sense. But then again... you never did.'' he continued to turn away. I was losing him!
''How can I make you happy? She needs to move on in the after life!'' I blurted out.
''You can start by forgetting I existed. Don't even bother telling your friend about me.'' he spitefully said.
''But...'' I tried to go after him, but my body wouldn't budge.
''You were not ready!'' he began to shake in frustration, ''I literally tried to prepare you, but you were impatient!''
''Prepare me for what?'' I asked, ''I could have been doing something for my clan for two months! I have to do something now!''
''Do whatever you want mutt.'' He called me mutt! His heart was beginning to revert!
''Please trust me on this. I won't betray you.'' I assured.
''Betray me?! You already have!'' he then picked up his sleeve and along his arm were deep slashes that consisted of uneven dried blood. The mark was 4 claw mark like slashes that traveled on his upper sleeve.
What?
How did he get that!
''What are you talking about?'' I then realized he was referring that I had done that to him.
''I didn't do anything to you! I woke up in the cabin in the woods! I don't even know...''
''Forget. About. Me.''
And with that he snapped his fingers. He was gone in a poof and I could feel Adam shaking me awake.
''Sarah. Sarah!''
I blinked from the daze my head received. My head began to pound with an intense migraine, but it all dispersed after a few seconds. I just sat there in Adam's arms.
Trey. He had a wound. From me? But how? This didn't make any sense at all! Those gnashes looked like claw marks. But I... I don't have Jen with me!
I was completely baffled.
''Okay maybe you had a rough night let's put you to bed.'' Adam suggested.
Then we heard a ring on the door, ''Room service.''
''Oh great!'' Adam rolled his eyes, ''I forgot!''
I could feel my mouth watering.
''After you eat you go sleepy nigh night!'' he pointed a firm index at me.
During the whole time we were eating he had not struck up any topic or anything to contribute to a conversation. The food was really delicious, but my appetite soon fell. I looked up at him. I was going to tell him about Trey, but what could I really tell him when Trey didn't want anything to do with me.
I tried to imply Adam's words of wisdom into me. But Trey was one of those exceptions where I actually wanted to satisfy him. Because he was nowhere near happy, Gina will remain in purgatory forever!
I felt like I shouldn't give up on him, but for now I had to take the reigns and guide my people to peace and tranquility.
''What do you want to do tomorrow?'' Adam tucked himself into an extra mattress on the floor in my room.
''We are going to see Damien.'' I said and then drifted off to sleep.
