::Sarah's POV::
I couldn't put my finger on it, but this man really seemed to push my buttons.
I had been in this so called man cave of his for almost three days. He still hasn't really contemplated any moves on getting his little trinket back.
''So? Can I go back now?'' I shook my head and arms simultaneously.
He was in the middle of making me breakfast, because apparently I didn't feed off blood from animals like vampires did. And he didn't want me touching any of his belongings.
''This is basically holding me hostage!'' I folded my arms.
''It's not called that if no one is actually looking for you.'' he said over his shoulder.
Ouch.
He had been at this for some time, actually since the very second we met!
''Fine then, kidnapping.'' I corrected myself.
''I never thought the victim would come to the kidnapper? Also, I saved you.'' he retorted.
We were getting nowhere with each other. Even sparking up small talk was immediately dismissed with his dissing nature.
''I didn't know you lived at the edge of a damn cliff!'' I defended myself.
''Don't tell me that bullshit of me being in your territory or whatever. These grounds never belonged to your kind.'' he plated the food.
The smell of the food traveled directly to my nostrils. And I swear it was the most mouth watering aroma ever! He had freshly caught some salmon by the river below. He made garlic buttered salmon with steamed veggies such as corn and broccoli.
''Bon apetitty!'' he scoffed at his own pun.
I looked down at the plate. Yes it smelled so delicious, but it seemed to lack something, ''What? No carbs allowed? No pasta, no rice? Bread?''
''With the weight you putting on girl you need less of that.'' he shook his head.
That comment sent a pang of hurt straight to my heart, I remembered one of the reasons I had actually gained weight.
He saw the look on my face and sighed a bored sigh, ''Look, I've seen some of your memories, not all. But I didn't mean to break you down about the loss of your child.''
I guess that was his way of apologizing.
But I was greatly losing my appetite.
''The thing I never got about you is you lived so much in your past.'' he placed a fork onto the plate, ''There is no point in living like that.''
I just stared down at the food.
''Listen, I need to know more about you before I can trust you.'' he added.
The nerve!
''What do you mean trust ME?! I don't even want to trust YOU!'' I rolled my eyes at him.
''Well how did your little infiltrating go when you tried to see your so called boy toy?'' he went straight back to his usual taunting.
I know he had said that I shouldn't live in my past, but he kept bringing it up and I couldn't stop the thoughts from rewinding. One thing was for sure I needed to get away from this dude as soon as I get the chance.
I gently poked onto the tender fish, ''I miss him.''
''Do you even know if he is alive?'' he smirked in boredom.
This man just kept going at it, ''I mean you no longer have your spirit wolf with you either. How could you tell?''
''JUST SHUT THE f**k UP!'' I had it beyond my boiling point.
''YOU DON'T KNOW JACK s**t ABOUT WHAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH! SEEING IT AND GOING THROUGH IT ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!'' I almost flipped my food.
He then gave me one glare and my body sank into the couch, ''You need to chill the f**k out.''
Once again I couldn't move or budge at my will, I just stayed put like he wanted me to.
He then turned to me and bent down so we could see eye to eye. He clutched my chin with his firm fingers, ''You don't need to have someone else's cards in your hands to know when to fold.''
What did that mean?
''It means...'' he released my face and walked away, ''You can learn from a distance instead of putting yourself in the same risk.''
I guess that was some words of wisdom from the bloodsucker who had lived for how many hundreds of years.
''Did time really numb you out?'' I muttered.
He released his power on me and I could finally breathe to my own accord. He sighed a lot with me, but I couldn't help the curiosity since he was the first and only vampire I've ever met.
''Time doesn't really numb you out, you either learn to cope with it, or avoid it.'' he looked at my plate, ''Now eat.''
Maybe I shouldn't be yelling at the host who basically could kill me in the blink of an eye. I didn't have Jen, nor knew my mate's whereabouts. But, I can't stop the dread of losing my baby, it was just too much to explain how I felt.
I wished so many times that it would have been me to die instead of the potential life of the baby. I'd rather be the one who vanishes into thin air than my beloved wolf. And of course, I would rather be the one to suffer in those chains than the man who only wanted to love me.
I'm a problem again. I guess I will always be a problem after all.
I scooped some of the fish and veggies into my mouth. I almost cried as I savored every bite.
''I was given time.'' Trey whispered, ''But I was never given a duplicate opportunity.''
''So, you're saying that you are pretty broken yourself?'' I was about to burst into tears as I stress ate.
''The broken are the ones who act complete.'' he bobbed his head agreeing with himself, ''In all my years of existing it's been a while since someone else's story peeked my interest.''
''It's just because you saw something that belonged to you.'' I swallowed, ''So don't even go there.''
''It wasn't just that,'' he scratched his head and sat down on a chair that was further away from me, ''Your life is so unbalanced. I'm not saying you didn't deserve your path, but even my powers deem your life to be unnatural.''
I didn't catch what he meant on that. But, it wasn't something I wanted to keep in the back of my head anyway.
''When can I at least leave this prison?''
He looked at me and almost face palmed himself, ''Look.'' he sounded annoyed, ''Not only do I have to repeat everything to you all the time, but you're not thinking of what could happen.''
He then rested both his elbows on his lap while folding his fingers together, ''You think I haven't done anything besides hunting for your fat ass? I had done some scouting as well.''
''What scouting?'' I confusedly asked.
''There's a war about to break out, from the looks of it your tribe is the target.'' he got my full attention now.
''What?!'' I was speechless.
''You did want to leave behind the pack you were a luna to. You should have known that without an alpha or luna your troops would be in grave danger. You have put risk to your people Sarah. Because you tried to take the easy way out.''
I dropped my fork, I couldn't think of a comeback to what he had just said. He was right. I was selfish and did not think about what would happen to those who remained alive.
''I know a bit of how werewolves worked.'' Trey looked out the window, ''They're so predictable. But, you,'' he turned to me, ''There's something different about you. A part of me is pissed off by you, but also another part is quite curious.''
''Please just tell me what it is!'' I begged, ''I'm worried about my people now.''
''I can't because I haven't figured it out myself. My blood boils just looking at you, but you're such a weakling that I don't get why it disturbs me.''
I had finished my meal and set the plate aside, ''So now what?''
''Well...'' Trey contemplated, ''You can hunt as a vessel of having alpha blood, but you also reek of omega. Your memories share you are the daughter of someone who was a royal blood.''
I gave him the look to carry on with what he was saying, but he stopped there. All he said was a dismissive , ''Nah.''
Then he stood up from his chair and waltzed right to me, ''My turn for my meal.''
My eyes shot wide open, did he mean me?
''I mean it isn't going to be as appetizing as what I cooked for you, but you also have to see what's been going on while you are gone.'' he looked at my wrist.
''You're gonna turn me into a vampire?!'' I squealed.
He looked like he was gagging on something invisible, ''As if...'' he scoffed, ''This is where the trust thing starts.''
''You want me to feed you some of my blood?'' I felt my heart thudding hard against my chest.
''Your blood is extremely fatty, but it's not just for me to feed off you, but to show you a bit of what I can do.''
''Are you referring to when you bit me earlier and invaded my thoughts and past?'' I scowled, ''No thanks!''
''We can do this the easy way...'' he unfolded his arms and lifted on of them, ''Or the hard way.''
So in the end I didn't have a choice, so why even bother wasting time about it? I sat back and stretched out my wrist to him.
''I guess you learn at some point.'' he bent down and held my arm. His fingers wrapped around near my elbow and gently squeezed it. His face got close, and then I witnessed his fangs extend.
I swear I was afraid of needles bad enough, this was giving me massive anxiety, but I couldn't look away!
Once he pierced through my skin I crushed my eyes closed. The pain of his fangs penetrating into my veins and arteries hurt like a b***h.
But within a few seconds, it was gone!
The pain, the agony, the anxiety. They were all gone! Instead my back bobbed back into the couch and felt a new experience of euphoria. My eyes rolled back involuntarily, as he continued to feed off my arm.
''Don't worry,'' I could hear his voice, ''I will be with you the whole way.''
That did not put me at ease, but this sensation sure was! It felt as if I had taken the best drug and I was incredibly high. High and happy?
My vision tunneled in, and I could hear the winds becoming more clear by the second.
All of a sudden my eyes jolted awake, and I was still in the cave, except I wasn't in my own body, for I was currently looking at it.
''Welcome to a vampire's third eye.'' Trey said next to me.
