Alessandro "You're what?" I shouted so loudly the whole room vibrated. The bedroom door flung open. Roman ran in full of concern. "Is everything ok, Alpha?" I glared at him. "Leave us now!" Roman stared in shock. "You're scaring her!" He argued looking at Elana's face. She was pale and shaking, but I did not care. I was seeing red. "Get. Out." I seethed through my teeth. She was mine to deal with as I see fit. Roman knew better than to question me. He looked at the ground and left closing the door behind him. Immediately I turned my attention back to Elana who was gripping the edge of the bed trying to back away. "Who is he?" I growled. Her eyes turned watery. She shook her head and sucked in her lips. "Tell me right now," I commanded. She looked at the floor and didn't say a word. I was losing the little bit of patience left in me. I grabbed her chin and harshly forced her to look at me. "What is his name?" I roared at her. She began shaking trying to get away from me. "No!" She shed a tear. That single tear did something to me. I wanted to hold her and comfort her, but I was still so angry. I couldn't even apologize because it wouldn't be sincere. I just didn't want to see her upset. I was still fuming trying to think of what to do next. Without saying anything I stormed out of the bedroom. "Lock her in and get a guard to keep watch," I ordered Roman who was standing outside the door eavesdropping. I didn't wait for a response as I took off running out of the building. There was so much rage in me I needed to burn off. I was running as fast as my legs allowed me in no particular direction. The woods were approaching quickly, and I turned into my wolf. Besides mother nature, there was no sound other than the harsh thudding and twigs snapping under my paws. All I could see was the green and brown hues of trees I zoomed past. I didn't know what I was running for, but I couldn't stop. Nothing or no one could slow me down. I focused my attention straight ahead. Then suddenly I noticed a slight movement from a ball of gray through the corner of my eyes a few yards away. Then his strange scent hit me. Then someone else's, and someone else's. I could sense all three approaching from different angles. Quickly I used my mind link to alert Roman and Eric. "Rogues in the woods!" I knew that was enough to make them drop everything and get running to my direction. I stopped in my tracks and projected a loud, dominating growl. These rogue wolves must not know who they're dealing with. I've made quite the reputation for myself and my pack. All packs and rogues in surrounding states knew or heard of me and knew not to mess with me. These rogues must have not gotten the memo. They abruptly stopped several feet in front of me and changed into their human forms. Two men and a woman. They looked like siblings, all three with blue eyes and blonde hair. "Alpha," the female addressed me slightly bowing her head. "Rogues," I hissed after turning back into my human form. "How dare you step on my turf?" "We mean no harm to you, really." She smiled. "We just happened to be in the neighborhood..." I held up my hand forcing her to become silent. "Do I look like a fool to you?" She shook her head. "No..." She trailed off searching for the right words. "The thing is-" "You have something that we want," one of the men interrupted. "Something we've been looking for." I rolled my eyes. "I don't know what the hell you want, but I'm not giving you a damn thing." The man smirked. "It's more like who we want." I raised an eyebrow in question. "A little birdie told us you took someone earlier today. Someone we've been hunting for a long time." Elana? I felt fire building inside of me. Why would wolves be hunting down a human? "I will never let you touch a single strand of hair on her head!" "Oh my god," the woman laughed hysterically. "She's your mate, isn't she?" It was obvious that she was, but I didn't answer. The third man shook his head slowly. "You have no idea, do you?" He hesitated for a moment, but then asked, "What do you know about her?" Simultaneously our noses sniffed the air. Roman and Eric's wolves were on their way. They were coming fast. The three rogues took a step back preparing to retreat. "Be careful," the third man warned. "She's extremely dangerous and we're not going to stop until we take her down." They quickly ran off with that being said. "If I ever see any of you again, I will end you!" I roared. Both Roman and Eric arrived and turned into their human form. They stood behind me ready to fight. "Why'd you let them go?" Roman spoke up. I shook my head. "They're young and inexperienced. They'll stay away if they know what's good for them." "What if they don't?" Eric asked. I looked at him in the eyes. "Then we kill them," I shrugged. "Now let's get back and meet in my office in an hour." We all shifted back into our wolves and ran back to the mansion. I instantly smelled Elana. Her scent was intoxicating to me. I wanted to run to her and have her in my arms, but the reminder of our conversation earlier held me back. Part of me was still angry, but honestly, I was more hurt than anything. And I still wanted her. She was my mate, and she was only mine. I let my imagination run wild thinking of her before taking a cold shower. An hour later I was pacing back and forth in my office. Roman and Eric sat quietly and patiently. I was trying to gather my thoughts but could only think of Elana. Her scent tempted me to go back upstairs and demand her affection that I deserved, but I needed her to give her some space after the way I yelled at her. "What's going on, Alpha?" Eric asked interrupting my thoughts. "How has the search been going?" I asked giving them a threatening look. Eric shook his head. "Not well. Tony has some of the best investigators digging for information, but nothing is coming up." A deep, low growl escaped me. "I need to know everything about Elana, and I need to know now!" He nodded. "They're working as hard as they can, but it's nearly impossible at this point." I felt rage building. I grabbed him by the shirt. "Then make it possible!" I released him and glanced back between him and Roman. "She told me she's already in love with someone else." My voice was weak. Saying that gave my heart pain. "She won't tell me who he is, so I need you to dig deeper and find out who he is. I want him out of the picture for good!" "You know we always come through for you," Roman said. "This might take some time though. You need to understand that." I shook my head. "I don't have time. I want her now, not thinking about another man!" "She'll come around," he reassured me. "But it's almost as if she doesn't want to be found. I think she's probably hiding something." I dropped my head in thought and sighed deeply. "There's something the rogues said in the woods that's been bothering me. They said they've been hunting Elana." They both looked at me in shock and confusion. Eric spoke first. "Why are wolves hunting a human for?" Shrugging my shoulders I said, "That's what I'd like to find out..." I ran my hand over my head. "They also said she's very dangerous and I need to be careful." "What?" Roman's mouth dropped. "Dangerous how?" "I don't know. They didn't say. That's why I need you to find out everything you can about her. I want to know why anyone could possibly want to hurt her. It'll be over my dead body before I let that happen." "We'll get to the bottom of this. Don't worry," Eric said. "Yeah, I hope so." I wanted to trust that but was very doubtful considering their past attempts. "Another thing," I added. "This stays between us until I get answers." They nodded and left the office. After continuously debating with myself, I decided to see Elana again. I've waited long enough and thought she should be over our little ordeal by now. I grinned like a little boy crushing in grade school as I made my way up the steps and down the hallway. The guard acknowledged me with a nod before I stepped into the room. There she was standing in front the glass patio door looking at the pond. She turned her head to me after hearing my entrance. She quickly frowned and returned her gaze to the scenery. Maybe she wasn't over our situation from earlier, but she would be soon. There's no way she could stay mad at me for long. I wanted her to be happy. "Listen, I know we got off on the wrong foot earlier," I began to explain, "but I just want you to know that-" "I don't want to be here," she said coldly. Those words felt like she just shot an arrow to my heart. I couldn't let her see me weak though. I was going to fight for her. I was going to change her mind about me. She was going to forget about whoever she thought she was in love with. "No?" I raised an eyebrow. "Why is that?" She spun around and took a step forward looking me in the eyes. There was no hint of nervousness in her. She was bold and fearless. "I don't belong here," she said flatly. "You already know why." I chuckled. She was trying to get a rise out of me, but it wasn't going to work. I knew how to conduct myself in the face of my enemies, she was no challenge. "Actually, love, you do. You're mine and you need to forget this other guy. I'm your happiness from now on." Elana scoffed and rolled her eyes. "First of all, you don't own me. Second, I will never forget him no matter how bad you want me to. And lastly, you will never be my happiness!" My eyes wanted to become watery. She was trying her best to hurt me and all I wanted was to be her mate. Why was I not enough for her? "I just want to be with you and give you the world," I said. My voice cracked with pain and I knew she noticed. She sighed deeply and thought for a moment. "Where is my purse?" I blinked in confusion at the sudden change of topic. "What?" "I had a purse with me when I was kidnapped. Where is it?" "I have it. Why?" I asked still confused. She smacked her lips. "I want it back." "Why? There's nothing special in there. I already checked. Just your wallet, receipts, makeup, keys, and a stuffed teddy bear." "Don't worry about it, just give it to me." "What's so important about a purse?" I pressed. "I just want to keep the little bit of things I have left to myself. Is that so hard to understand?" I thought for a moment. "If I give you your purse, what are you willing to do for me?" It was a far stretch, but it was the only leverage I had at that moment. Elana scoffed. "Wow. Do you expect me to suck your d**k just for a purse?" My body twitched. Yes. "No!" "Right," she said sarcastically. "Okay, I'll make you a deal. You give me my purse and I'll try my best to be happy living here." "And love me," I accidentally thought out loud. She laughed loudly. "That's a very high price for a purse, don't you think? Don't make me change my mind now." I sighed in defeat. It was at least a start. "Fine." Elana smiled at her win.
