You’re A Stray

They arrived in Montenegro early in the morning and were greeted by several armed men on the tarmac. Nyx looked at them warily as she hugged Klaus close to her chest.

“Don’t worry about them. They are my men. They will escort us to my house,” Celestino said, and Nyx nodded her head.

They climbed into the black Escalade, and it drove them back to Celestino’s villa. They drove from Podgorica to a nearby town called Tivat. The drive there was quiet; Nyx was still sleepy, but she enjoyed seeing the view outside the window. Klaus slept soundly in her arms while Celestino was on a call, talking Serbian.

After Celestino ended the call, he turned to Nyx.

“That was the boss. He likes to meet you later this afternoon, after you and Klaus are settled and have rested enough,” he told her.

Nyx looked at him.

“Did he say anything? I am nervous, actually.” She asked.

Celestino smiled and patted Nyx’s knee.

“Don’t worry about, Teddy is nice. He is the current boss, but it was his father who took in your mother. Thaddeus Sr. is sick and, on his deathbed, so he wants to see you,” he told her.

Nyx nodded.

“We’ll go once I have Klaus asleep,” she said.

“We’ll take him. Thaddeus wants to see him,”

Celestino said, and I looked at him worried.

“Is it even appropriate? We’re bringing a baby inside a mafia estate,”

Nyx asked, sounding worried, but Celestino just gave her a reassuring smile.

“It will be fine.”

Nyx nodded.

Soon, they arrived at Celestino’s villa. The property offers a unique view of the Porto Montenegro marina, the Bay of Kotor, and the city of Tivat. The estate has three buildings, with the main house, the guest house, and staff houses. It also has a private pool and open yard that overlooks the Bay of Kotor.

The main house contains a designer-style living room with a fireplace, a dining room, a kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a guest toilet. The guest house consists of a living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and toilet. The space is furnished with award-winning interior design of furniture and equipment. The property also contains a staff house consisting of a bedroom and a bathroom.

All three houses are well air-conditioned with separate heat pumps, and each is covered with underfloor heating. The villas have a large area for rest and relaxation, with a beautiful swimming pool with sea view. The pool area has a toilet and a shower as well.

In the yard, there is also an outdoor kitchen with a grill, an oven, and a refrigerator. In this part of the yard, there are deckchairs, umbrellas, and a large table for outdoor dining.

They pulled over in front of the main house, Celestino climbed out first, and he went around to help Nyx out.

“You and Klaus can stay in the guest house,” Celestino said, calling over his butler and telling him to escort them to the guest house.

Celestino then looked at Nyx.

“I will come and get you once it's time to go. Rest, unpack, and I will have the maids bring you food,” he said, and Nyx nodded.

“Okay, thank you.”

Celestino gave her a curt nod and went inside the main house.

“Miss, please follow me,”

The butler said, and he led Eina towards the guest house with one man carrying their bags. Inside the guest house, it looked cozy and cool to the eyes. The butler took Eina towards the room she was going to use.

“Sir Celestino asked for a crib for the baby, and we placed it next to the bed,”

The butler said, and Nyx smiled as she saw the oak crib.

“If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to call us through the intercom,” he said.

Nyx looked at him at him smiling.

“I will, thank you,” she replied.

The butler gave her a curt bow before leaving them. Celestino’s man also exited after putting their bags on the floor next to the bed. Nyx closed the door and placed Klaus into the crib.

Once her arms were free, she stretched them. Then she looked around the room, checked the closet and bathroom before she decided to unpack. After doing that, she took photos of the room and sent them to Bello and Eugenie, telling them that they arrived in Montenegro safely.

Since there is a time difference, her friends must be asleep, so she put her phone by the nightstand and lay down on the bed. She decided to take a nap while Klaus was also napping.

Once again, Nyx dreamed of what happened in the woods. She was once again back to the moment the other her killed Edward.

“Why do I have to see this over and over again?” Nyx asked.

The other her looked at her, fixing her hair, and spoke.

‘Because you need to accept what happened. That this is who you really are?’

“What are you even talking about? You're just a figment of my imagination,”

Nyx said, trying to convince herself.

Her other self chuckled.

‘Oh Nyxie Nyxie. I am not your imagination. I am you. The darkness in you, long asleep since you entered that body,’

She said, and Nyx looked at her, as it coincides with the hearsay that she is not her parents’ child. A different soul that entered the baby’s body when it died.

“What do you mean by that?” Nyx asked.

‘Exactly that. You are not the soul that body originally has. You’re a stray who went in that body, claimed it as yours just because you can,’

Her other self said, and Nyx shook her head.

“No, that’s not true. You are a figment of my imagination, and you are only saying that because of what I asked Celestino before.” She said.

Her other self shrugged her shoulders.

‘Am I? Then how are you going to explain how you killed that boy with your bare hands? Just hands, Nicola. No weapons used, just hands. Ripped his throat like it's just paper,’ she responded.

Nyx took a step back, scared and confused by what was happening to her.
