CHAPTER 3 ‘Check that! I haven’t seen him before.’ El nudged Meg as a tall guy in the uniform of St John’s College climbed onto the bus and walked down the aisle towards them. She slipped her hand into her pocket, whipped out her phone and tapped on the camera, capturing him on the screen. Startled, he paused and glanced at her. A faint smile twitched the corners of his mouth. He smoothed back already smooth fair hair as he turned and slotted into the seat in front of them, fanning himself with his straw boater. The hair at the back of his neck, regulation short above the white collar, was dark with sweat. Callie wondered why he didn’t take off his blazer. But the St John’s guys never did, no matter how high the temperature climbed. Better to bake than break the rules. She slouched back
