Mina was sitting in her bedroom enjoying her favorite pastime of reading. A knock at her door pulled her away from her imagination, and she glanced up toward the door. “Come in,” she called, closing her book gently. She could not help but smile as Noah’s figure appeared in her doorway. It had been weeks since they last spoke outside Cassandra’s office, when Mina apologized to him. Things had been friendly between them, although it seemed as though Noah had put up an invisible wall to keep her at arm’s length, at least emotionally. Mina longed to get past that barrier, although she understood why it was there. She did break his heart and pursue another lover, after all.
