Chapter 26

1423 Words

Noah arrived at the wrought iron gates of Armstrong Manor. The towering estate seemed to be more like a castle than a mansion, with dark stone turrets pointing into the dreary afternoon sky. The clouds overhead threatened rain as thunder rolled gently in the distance. With his duffle bag slung over his shoulder, he began the long walk up the stone pathway toward the manor, which was lined by a low, square hedge. On either side of him were extensive, green lawns that were neatly manicured and sprinkled with Cyprus trees. As he approached the front entrance, two large fountains with gargoyles perched on top sat on either side of the pathway, water flowing and spraying elegantly into the air. The main entrance of the estate consisted of two enormous oak doors with intricate gold handles.
