I put my phone back.
“Who’s that?” Said Alli.
“Oh, just my brother, I’ll get him later.” I don’t know if she noticed the change in me, but I was now all adrenaline and twitching. I needed to see the message. I stood up.
I should have been annoyed. I should have just ignored the message. Deleted it. Blocked her. I should have made a different choice. I could move on if I tried hard and ignored it and moved on to my summer. I didn’t want to ignore it though. I was overwhelmed with the need to know.
