8 “Is everything OK?” Tim asked once they were safely back in the rental car—with the doors locked, at Ryan’s insistence—and the engine had been started. “I’m fine, just a little shaken,” Ryan said, offering up a completely unconvincing smile as he clutched the seatbelt wrapped across his chest. “What the hell did he say to you?” Tim asked, anger burning in the back of his throat.
