A Surreal ExperienceVoi was sitting in the middle of the meditation chamber, legs folded and eyes closed. A voice crackled to life out of nowhere. Startled, her eyes snapped open, and she searched the room. Eventually, she spotted a speaker on the wall. A man spoke in Keshema—if Voi wasn’t mistaken—with a tone of restrained urgency. “Mafallah hara!” he cried. The chants of his crew echoed from the corridor. “Mafallah hara! Mafallah hara! Mafallah hara!” Long live liberation. “Mohmud…” A few minutes after the chanting stopped, the ship gave an abrupt lurch, causing Voi to sway. She extended her hands to either side until she grew used to the motion of the ship.
