HumanVoi opened her eyes—the side of her face pressed to cold, hard metal. The drone of the ship’s engines drilled a pulsating tension deep into the back of her head. An ache on the side of her body swelled, and she groaned, pushing herself onto her forearms. She looked up and saw Mohmud panting on his hands and knees. Seeing him weak, her pupils dilated. Blood rushed through her veins as her aetheric senses heightened, priming her for action. Now was her chance. She stood up, a little wobbly at first, then stretched out her arms to gain equilibrium. Then she froze, pitying Mohmud’s frailty. He looks so… human. He struggled to get onto his feet and slipped, falling onto the ground.
