14 EMMA Not an ounce of liquid courage in me and I’d said more to Christopher than I’d ever planned to. With the moment of truth at hand, I held my breath, waiting to hear how he’d respond to my bold statement. I felt his fingertips graze over the top of my hand, which rested near the cocktail that had sparked this conversation in the first place. “Am I the one who’s sparked those things, Emma?” Like a volcanic eruption, heat filled me.
