Shadow's POV: "I bet the two of you think you're really clever embarrassing me like that" Claudette hissed through clinched teeth. "Mother, contrary to belief everything is not about you. You made your own assumptions about Shadow. That's your own fault not ours." Rebel growled back annoyance clear on her face. Her mother looked at her with murder in her eyes. "Mark my words Rebel Rainwater you will regret making a fool of me." Rebel's eyes shifted from her own to Remy's "is that a threat?" They growled in unison making her flinch a bit. "Call it what you want little girl." I could see Rebel on the verge of shifting into Remy and I could also see a hint of something else. Something stronger trying to break free. "DON'T TRY ME MOTHER," she growled making her cower. Rebel stormed off into the ballroom leaving me there alone with her mother. "Let me make this very clear to you Claudette Rainwater. I understand Rebel is your daughter and I'm trying to respect you as her mother. With that said if you ever threaten my wife again I will bring a hell down on you that will make you pray for death." I didn't wait for a response I turned on my heels and walked away to comfort my wife. I found her sitting with my mother visibly still upset. My mother looked up at me with questions in her eyes wondering what happened. I told her we would discuss it later right now I needed to take her home. She nodded her head in understanding. My father walked over to us unbeknownst to us he had witnessed the whole ordeal. He didn't say a word he just wrapped Rebel in his embrace kissing the crown of her head. "It's gonna be okay little Luna." Was the only words he said. This made my mother even more concerned as she noticed the sign of unshed tears shining in my father's eyes. "Take her home." He said finally letting her go. As I was leaving with Rebel I noticed my father heading in the direction of Claudette. The look on his face sent a shiver down my spine. I have never seen him this angry ever in my life. I couldn't make out what was being said but by the look on her father's face nothing good was about to come out of this for Claudette. Calian Rainwater came running out of the building to catch us. Rebel went running into her father's arms. "I'm so sorry baby girl." He says tears brimming in his eyes. Rebel said nothing she just held on to her father tightly. They embraced each other for a few more moments before pulling away. "Get my baby away from that witch Shadow." He finally say. I nod my head in agreement. He gives me a firm handshake and a pat on my back. "I have some things to take care of. This has been a long time coming." He says turning to walk back into the ballroom. I helped Rebel into the limo before getting in myself then tapped the seat for the driver to take us home. Rebel leaned her head on my shoulder as I wrapped my arms around her pulling her into my warmth. I felt the tension leaving her body and soon she was asleep. Exhaustion finally taking the place of the hurt she was feeling. When we arrived home I helped her undress and we climbed back into bed our plans for tonight would have to be put on the back burner tonight. I wrapped her in my brace as hot tears fell on my chest. I didn't say a word I just let her get out what she needed to release. I wiped the tears from her eyes kissing their tracks. I stroked her hair softly until her eyes became heavy and sleep came to claim her. That night I tossed and turned disturbing visions appearing in my dreams. I took Claudette at her word that this was far from over. Another thing that plagued my mind was what I saw tonight in Rebel's eyes. What was that. The power that radiated from her was almost surreal. I've never seen anything like that. It's something hidden inside my wife that I can't explain something I don't even think she knows exist. I woke up the next morning earlier than usual. I decided to make Rebel's favorite breakfast salted caramel pancakes with chocolate sauce with bacon and egg with Monterey jack cheese. I also made her a huge mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream caramel sauce and chocolate shavings. She awakened just as I finished her eyes were red and puffy from crying. Her hair all over her head yet still to me she was the most beautiful she wolf in the world. She sat down at the table and forced herself to smile but I knew that deep inside she was hurting. She took a sip of her hot chocolate and sighed happily. "Thank you baby, you always know exactly what I need." I sit down with her and we ate our breakfast in comfortable silence. I had questions that was burning inside my brain. I really needed some answers. I took her hand into mine and looked her in her eyes trying to find a way to ask her what I needed to ask. "What's wrong?" She asks caressing the back of my hand. "Well," I say letting out a puff of air "last night when you and your mother had your confrontation. I saw something in your eyes." "Remy?" "No" My wolf Blaze was peering out with the same curiosity that I had of our mate. "I don't understand. What are you talking about?" "Rebel do you ever feel that there's something else inside you I mean other than Rebel?" She thinks for a moment and nods her head yes. "I think there's something very powerful inside you Rebel trying to break free." "Is there a way to find out what that is?" She asks. "I'm sure there is, we must first talk to your dad and my parents then go from there." She nods her head in agreement. I take out my phone setting up a dinner meeting between my parents and Rebel's father. Hopefully they could shed some light on this situation. I was also curious in what her dad meant about handling a situation that he should have years ago. After breakfast we cleaned up and showered then spent the afternoon in bed. That night we got dressed and made our way to one of the most exclusive steakhouses on pack territory.
