Summer

Chapter 9

Jason’s POV

I was hiding behind a tree along the boundary line of the school; I watched them as they walk towards Katie’s car.  Katie, that fucken b***h is going to be a bit of a problem trying to get close to Summer, she thinks she can speak to me like she did in Summer’s classroom, I think she needs to be taught a lesson on who is the superior one.  I’m really starting to hate her.  Just as Summer was about to open the door she froze, she stood up straight, looking around at her surroundings.  I quickly ducked behind the tree I was using to conceal myself behind. I heard that b***h Katie say “Is everything ok?”  “yeah, I think so.  It just feels like someone is watching me.”  I laughed “I know, I’m just being silly.” MMmmmm interesting, she thinks she’s being watched.  I’m going to have to be more careful.  I too lost in my thoughts and missed what Katie had to say.  As they were pulling out onto the road I took a chance at peeking around the tree to get one more look at Summer thinking she wouldn’t be looking my way.  I was wrong, she looked straight at me, her eyes were enormous when she spotted me. I quickly jumped behind to hide.  I heard the breaks slam on the car, it sat there idling in the middle of the street for a few minutes.  I was hoping no one would get out of the car to investigate, I was luck no one did because I couldn’t think of a good enough excuses for the reasons why I was hiding behind a tree.  After they drove off I let out the breath I didn’t realize I was holding ‘s**t that was close’ I laughed to myself.  Time to go home and get ready for work, the girls always come in for dinner on a Friday and I was going to make sure I got to spend some time with her.

Katie POV                                                                               

The rest of the car ride home was silent.  We got out of the car, walked into the house, I closed the front door behind me. “I’m going to take a shower, I feel really, really dirty after today.”  She sounded tired, my poor friend.  “Sure, go ahead.”

I was sitting on the couch sipping on a beer thinking about what has happen over the last 24 hours with Summer and Jason and the fact I was going to be leaving her here by herself for 4 days while I have gone to my parents.  I can’t leave her here by herself, I’m just going to have to reschedule with my parents, they will understand.  Summer was still in the shower so I should have enough time to break the news to them before she gets out. 

I picked up my phone and dialed the house number.  It rang 4 times before a female voice came through the other end “Hello,”

 “Hey mom.”

“Hi darling, what time will you be here tomorrow?”

“Yeah that’s the reason I’m calling.  I can’t make it this weekend, there has been a bit of drama with Summer and this guy Jason.”

“What kind of drama, is she alright?”

“Yeah she’s ok, a bit shaken up but ok.  I just worried if I leave her by herself this weekend something could happen or she might freak out.  She went out on a date with him last night and he got a bit aggressive towards her” before I could finish my explanation mom cut in.

“Did he hurt her?”

“No he didn’t hit her or anything, he just grabbed her but it still freaked her out.  He turned up at work this afternoon.” “WHAT” mom screamed into the phone which hurt my sensitive ears.  “When I stopped off at her classroom so we could go home he was there.”

“He sounds like a bit of a stalker.”  “Yeah my thoughts were heading in that direction as well, I hope I’m wrong and he really is just trying to apologies.”  I took a deep breath “anyway that’s why I won’t be able to make it this weekend.”

“Katie, I’m sorry but you have too.  Alpha William, his mate and his son Trevor will be here for you to meet.  Everything has been arranged, you have to come.  I sighed “what about Summer?” 

Mom exhaled “bring her with you, we can put her in one of the little cottages outside of town and your father will tell the pack to stay away from there so she won’t see any wolves running around.”

“I’m not leaving her out there all by herself.  She can stay with me at my place on the homestead.” I said matter of factly.

“I don’t think so Katie, she cannot know about use being werewolves!”  s**t now is the best time as any to just spit it out and tell her that Summer already knows.  “Ummmm, about that.  Summer already knows about werewolves.  She knows we are werewolves, she has known for years because I told her.”  I said it all really fast, then took a deep breath, held it and waited for my mother’s wrath.  There was silence on the other end for so long I thought she may have passed out or something so I released my breath and said “Mom, are you ok” still silence so I tried again “Mom look, I told her years ago and she hasn’t told a soul about our secret, I trust her with my life, she is family to me.”  Mom exhaled “I know you look at her as a sister and I love her like a daughter too.”  She took a deep breath and exhaled “I suppose there is not much we can do about it now, but I hope you realize when I tell your father he is going to be furious, and Gabriel is going to be worse.”  I sighed “yeah I know but you can butter dad up before we get there can’t you?”  See laughed “Yeah, leave your father to me, I’ll sort him out but there will be no sorting Gabriel out.”  “Yeah I know.  So we will see you all tomorrow then?”  “Ok. Love you Katie, drive safely and give my love to Summer.”  “Will do mom. Love you too.” 

I push the end button on my phone.  I let out a sigh of relief ‘that went better than I thought it would’ I was laughing to myself when Summer stepped out of the bathroom “what’s so funny?”    I looked up at her and smiled “pack and bag girlfriend you are coming with me this weekend and I’m not taking no for an answer.”  Her eyes were large and her mouth was hanging open “What do you mean, I can’t go back to your home with you, what about you all being werewolves?”  I laughed “you see, that’s the thing, I just got off the phone with mom and told her everything.”  I then started to explain how my conversation went with my mom.  When I finished we were both laughing.  “OK I’ll come with you.”  “Good go pack a bag with enough clothes for 4 days while I go take a shower.  We are leaving in an hour.”  She looked at me in shock again “aye I thought we were leaving tomorrow?”  “Why wait?  It’s a 6 hour drive so if we leave in an hour we will make it there before midnight.  Come on, we can grab something to eat on our way.”  I was so excited.  “OK” Summer run to her room squealing with excitement.
