Some places never forget. Some secrets never die.

When a young woman returns to the mysterious hills she once called home, she expects to face painful memories—not the stranger whose presence stirs her heart, or the dark secrets hidden beneath the silence of the mountains. As forgotten truths begin to surface, love and betrayal collide, forcing her to choose between the past she tried to escape and the future she never imagined.

Filled with romance, mystery, emotional twists, and unforgettable characters, Whispers Beyond the Hills is a story where every chapter uncovers another secret—and nothing is ever as it seems.

CHAPTER: 1
Chapter 1: The wrong Number The evening sky was painted with shades of orange and purple as Ethan walked home through the narrow streets of Ashford valley. Life in the small mountain town was quiet, predictable, and often lonely. Every morning he worked at his father’s old repair shop, and every evening he returned to the same modest house overlooking the hills. At twenty-six, Ethan had learned not to expect miracles. His dreams had slowly faded beneath responsibilities, unpaid bills, and the promise he had made to take care of his widowed mother. That evening, as he locked the workshop, his phone vibrated. UNKNOWN NUMBER. He hesitated before answering. "Hello?" Silence. Then came a soft voice. "Is....... Ryan there?" "I am sorry. "Ethan replied politely. I think you’ve dialed the wrong number." There was a brief pause before the women laughed. "Oh no..... that's embarrassing." Her laugh was warm and genuine, the kind that could brighten an ordinary day. "It happens," Ethan said with a smile. "I should let you go. Sorry for bothering you." "No problem." The call ended. Ethan slipped his phone back into his pocket and continued walking, but somehow that cheerful voice lingered in his mind. Hundreds of miles away, Maya stared at her phone in disbelief. "I can't believe i called the wrong person," she muttered. Her best friend, Sarah, looked up from the couch and said," What happened?" Maya said," I accidently called a stranger, and he was.... surprisingly nice." Sarah laughed. "So? That's the end of the story, probably." Neither of them realized that one accidental phone call had quietly changed the direction of two lives. THREE DAYS PASSED; Ethan buried himself in work, fixing old engines and helping customers. By sunset, he was exhausted. Just as he was about to close the shop, his phone rang again. The same unknown number and he answered. "Hello?" "Hi...." The familiar voice returned. " I hope I'm not disturbing you." Ethan smiled without realizing it. "Not at all." "I never thanked you for being kind the other day." "You already did." "No... I think kindness deserves a proper thank you." For the next fifteen minutes, two strangers talked about simple things—the weather, favorite books, music, and the quiet places they wished they could visit. Neither asked for a last name. Neither shared too much. Yet the conversation felt unexpectedly easy, as though they had known each other for years. When the call ended, Ethan looked at the darkening sky. For the first time in a long while, it wasn't about bills, work, or responsibilities. He was thinking about a voice. Far away, maya closed her phone and smiled to herself. "Maybe wrong numbers aren't always mistakes." But somehow in the city, inside a luxurious office overlooking the skyline, a man watched maya through the security camera. Victor Hale leaned back in his chair. "Find out who she's been talking to." His assistant nodded silently. Outside, thunder rolled across the night sky. Neither Ethan nor Maya knew that their innocent conversations had already attracted the attention of someone who never accepted losing control.
