Chapter Four

"What going on with you Mason, I never saw you this down." Mason grandmother Janice asked as he sat next to her bedside at the hospital.  She has kidney failure, it's really bad and she has to stay in the hospital until they can do surgery. Mason looked up from his phone and sigh.

"Her," Mason said showing his grandmother a picture of Dani. She smiled.

"She is a beautiful thick thing, you guys talking?" His grandmother asked smiling. She loves for her grandson to be showing interest in someone that doesn't want his money. Dani looks like she was a sweet young lady.

"No Nana she won't give me the time of day, she always run or curse me out telling me I'm like every other boy out here, she has real bad insecurities," Mason said shaking his head. He just wishes Dani would give him the time of day. He was stressing over her and this party he was about to throw for Halloween. He just wishes Dani would be his date for it. What wouldn't she talk to him?

"You have to show her that you not like every other boy, baby doesn't stress yourself out over this, it takes time, she needs someone to help her get over her insecurities, you only 16 don't you beat yourself up for someone else." His grandmother said touching his face. Mason gave her a small smile.

"I'm going get back before I'm late, I'll see you later nana, love you," Mason said kissing his grandmother's cheek.

"Love you too sweetie." Mason walked out of the hospital room and to the elevator. He got on and rode it to the lobby. Once he got down there he got off and walked out of the hospital and to his car.

"Wassup man, what's going on with you?" Mason's friend Kane asked as they sat in class. Mason looked at him and looked at Dani. He has been staring at her since they got in this class. She was so damn beautiful to him. Curvy and chocolate.

"Nothing, I'm good, y'all coming to this Halloween party right?" Mason asked as he pulled out his phone.

"You know I'm going be in that b***h," Kane said a Lil to loud. The teacher looked at him.

"Mr. Jones, you're cursing, do you want to be in Saturday school with me this week?" Mrs. Zeir asked as she walked to him. Mason laughed. "You to Mr. Collins."

"But. I. Um. I, forget it." Mason said throwing his hand up at her. She passed them the Saturday day school slip and walked back to the front. "See what your a*s did, I had s**t to do this Saturday," Mason said shaking his head.

"Nigga f**k her I'm not coming to no damn Saturday school, I like to sleep in on the weekends," Kane said ripping the paper up. Mason shook his head. He didn't have time to get suspended for something so stupid. All he did was laugh.

"Ok when I call you all names line up at the door." Mrs. Zeir said as she grabbed a clipboard. She starts calling names and people start getting up. She called Mason's name and he got up. Dani got up when she called her name. "You all going be working today just to complete this packet today, go to the library and return it back to me once the class is over." She said handing everyone a packet. They walked out of the class and to the library.

Dani thought to herself, why in the hell she put her in a group with Mason. She just cursed this dude out the other day.

"Dani what wrong with you?" Dashona asked as the enter the library. She was just fine now she was in like a shocked state. Dani looked at her and smiled.

"I'm ok, nothing wrong with me, let's just get this over with," Dani said sitting down. They all say at a table. Mason sat on one side of Dani and Dashona sat in the other side.

"So Mason you still throwing your Halloween party?" Dashona asked as she starts eating her cookies. Dani looked at crazy.

"You really going sit in here and eat?" Dani asked taking her cookies from her. Dashona looked at her and took her cookies back. Mason just laughed at the two.

"Yea I'm still having, y'all coming through?" He asked as he starts working on the worksheet. Why did they have to come to the library? He thought to himself. He looked through it and saw why.

"Yea you know I am, I might have to beg this one but we coming to show you some love," Dani said drinking her fruit punch. Dani shook her head and start working on the worksheet. She wasn't trying to be in the same house as Mason. She didn't want to be sitting in between him.

"Wassup folk!" Kane said walking in the library. He was all loud. He came and sat next to Dashona. "Hey Dashona where your girlfriend?" He asked as he stole one of her cookies. She slapped him.

"Nigga don't you take s**t from me, I don't care who is Kane, don't try me." She said taking her cookie back. Dani and Mason laughed shaking their head.

"You gotta cute laugh you know," Mason said to Dani. She looked down. Her cheeks were burning. She just wanted to move. When she thought about getting up her brother pop in her head. Don't you dare get yo a*s up Dani! Her brother's voice said in her head.

"Thanks I guess." Mason just chuckles at her. Time Mason, she need someone to help her get over her insecurities. His grandmother voice said in his head. The two just sat there awkwardly. Dani didn't know what else to say to this boy. She was surprised he was talking to her after the other night.

"Aye ninja turtle, you got something to eat?" Kane asked Mason. Mason looked at him.  "Because Dashona a*s want to act stingy with the damn peanut butter cookies and s**t," Kane said mean-mugging her.

"f**k you, I'm hungry you ain't chip in on this s**t either," Dashona said biting into her cookie. Kane took it and got up running around the library. They better be lucky they were the only ones in there.

"That boy need help," Mason said shaking his head. Dani just sat there watching them act like they was two. They had like another hour of this class. She was ready to go home to be honest. Get in her bed and just sleep.

"Kane I swear when I get a hold of you, I'm going beat your a*s believe me," Dashona said sitting back down out of breath. He just laughed at her.

"I love you to best friend." He said far away from her. She shot a bird at him. They have been knowing Kane since middle school. He has always been crazy. They did their work and talked. Well Mason and them Dani just stayed quiet.
