Chapter 1
Lana's POV
"Alex get your ass out here right now!" I yell. We have been traveling for so long and every night she runs into the bathroom and takes it up for so long. The rest of us have to pee too!
"I'm trying. Just use the bathroom in the lobby!" I hear her yell through the door. I groan and turn to Alicia who is laying on the bed on her phone. She's the sweet one out of the three of us. Alex and I would rip each other's hair out if it weren't for her.
I grab my key card while rolling my eyes and walk out of the hotel room. I take my attitude with me as I stomp down the hallway and decide to take the stairs instead of the elevator, too many awkward meetings in them if you ask me.
Once I reach the lobby I run to the bathroom and relieve my bladder as I had been holding it in for the past three hours. We all travel together in one car and take turns driving. Alicia's parents are paying for our trip and put the gas on their family card. We've only been gone for two weeks and I already feel bad for how much money we are spending. Yes both of Alicia's parents are doctors and have enough money to spare, but I always try to order the cheapest food and pick the three star hotels instead of the five star ones.
I finish my business and wash my hands before heading to the service desk.
"Hi" I say to the man standing behind the counter. He looks up and gives me a slight smile.
"Hello, what can I help you with?" he says in a very fake chipper tone.
"Um, my friends and I are looking for a bar to go out to, do you know of any around that allow performers?" I ask.
"Actually I do but it's a little bit of a hike. It's about half an hour away if you are willing to make the drive. Would you like to the print out directions and the address?"
"That would be wonderful. Thank you so much."
He prints out the directions and hands them to me. I look at the red line going across the page indicating our path to take. As he said it will take about thirty minutes to get there.
"And do you know how late they are usually open?" I say as I look over at the clock noticing it is already 9:30 and that Alex takes a minimum of an hour to get ready.
"They are open all night long. They usually don't close until everyone leaves so you should be fine. And tonight is their busiest night so it should be a fun night. Anything else I can help you with?" He asks politely.
"No that's alright. Thank you so much!" I give him a smile while taking the papers and head back to the stairs. I groan and decide to take the elevator since we are staying up on the 6th floor. Going down stairs is fine but going back up is another story.
I wait for the elevator to arrive and play on my phone. I scroll through i********: and see all of my friends from high school posting about how they are all settling down and starting families. Hey at least I'm having more fun. I laugh internally as the elevator dings signaling it's arrival. I step in and press six hoping for nobody else to get on. As the elevator starts to rise, I watch as the digital numbers rise and let out a sigh of relief as I get to the sixth floor alone. I walk to our room and key in. As I walk in I notice that Alex is still in the bathroom and Alicia is right where I left her.
"Alright, so there is a bar about half an hour away that is open all night and tonight is open mic. Everyone start getting ready."
Alicia gives me a thumbs up as I hear Alex yell something from the bathroom. It's hard to hear her over her blaring YouTube video she has playing.
I roll my eyes and heave my suitcase up onto the bed and it almost bounces off. I move the zipper around and it springs open. I look around at the mess of my clothes and start to pull things out.
"What's tonight? Black or silver?" I ask Alicia. We alternate what outfits we wear each night. It's been a view days since we had a chance to preform so I had forgotten what we are supposed to wear tonight.
"Black. I forget what we wore last but I wanna wear black" she says still on her phone.
I shrug agreeing and pull out my black shimmery leggings and black top. It's a tight crop top with straps across the cleavage. I look over at Alicia and see she's not paying attention and I start changing there. We're all close enough that it wouldn't matter anyway.
I pull the leggings up and jump around and wiggle every which way to get them up over my ass. Once they're on and secure right below my belly button, I grab my top and throw it on and pull it down right below my boobs. I pull on some iron man socks since they won't be seen and zip up my suitcase and throw it back on the floor. I then grab my show bag and pull out my black heels that we wear for shows. I grab my pair of shorts I keep in there also and throw them on the bed. The last step is hair and makeup. Since Alex will be in the bathroom for the rest of the time right up until before we leave, Alicia and I invested in a transforming suitcase that when opened, turns into a mirror with lights around it. Inside we have it stocked with whatever makeup we would need. Alicia keeps all of our flat and curling irons in one of her bags. The good thing is my hair is shorter so it doesn't take much to fix it.
I look down at my watch and notice that it is only 9:50 and we still have a little over an hour before Alex will be done so I throw on my sweatshirt and open my laptop. I try my best to send emails and texts to everyone back home every night so that our families know we're okay. We also have a blog we like to update every now and then that documents our trip and everything we're experiencing.
I grab a bag of chips out of the snack bag, put some YouTube on my phone with my headphones in and go to town. I talk about that last view days and how we traveled into Washington State last night. I upload a picture of us three standing at the State sigh to the top of it. I continue on and tell about how we stopped in Seattle to see all of the sights that Google said we had to see. I finally settle on today and how we showed up in Liberty, Washington and somehow found a hotel for the night. This isn't where we were supposed to go but Alex took a wrong turn and this is where we ended up. We were supposed to be heading south but instead we went east and ended up here. I told our readers how we plan to go out tonight and that we would try our best to update them on where we would be in the next few days and how I would try to at least get some photos of our next view performances.
After this I get on and start texting with my family and find out what they've been up to and what's going on at home.
As I finish I look down and see that it is 10:40 and Alicia has already started on her makeup. I close my computer and take out my headphones and sadly take off my sweatshirt. It's just so warm. I grab the flat iron off of Alicia's bed and plug it in in front of the mirror that is hooked onto the wall in the room. I sit down and play some more make up out loud this time as I start to drag the hot metal through my hair.
Once my hair is as straight as I can get it I grab out my bag of make brushes and the rest of the makeup I'll put on tonight. I start with primer than concealer and powder and everything right up until I'm using a steady hand to place on my fake eyelashes. The spot lights catch any imperfections so we gotta be as perfect as we can be. I go with a smoky eye with some shimmery bronze in the middle for some sparkle. I give myself one last look and realize that's as good as it's gonna get and spray on the setting spray. A life-saver when preforming. I clean everything up and look to see it is 10:55.
I run over to the bathroom door and knock on it loudly.
"Alex you have five minutes and we're leaving whether you're ready or not."
Just as I finish talking the door swings open with Alex all dolled up just missing some clothes. She glares at me before grabbing her suitcase and slamming the door again. I roll my eyes and sit down to put on my shoes. I glance over to make sure that Alicia is ready and of course she has been for the past ten minutes and is sitting in a chair scrolling through f*******: I'm guessing. I set out my pajamas on the bed for me to jump into the second we get back and go to stand at the door.
"Two minutes." I yell to Alex.
"Okay Mom!" she yells back at me.
I hear Alicia laugh at her comment as she grabs her bag and stand beside me. Alex finally gets out of the bathroom and grabs her bag and a bottle of water before we head out. I make sure I at least have a room key and close the door. Alex runs to the elevator and presses the button and does a little dance in her victory.
I just shake my head and laugh.
"What, you're just jealous because I beat you."
"That's exactly what is was. I'm so upset that you ran so much faster than me to hit a button. Bravo. Would you like a sticker?" I say sarcastically.
"Yes actually I would." She says crossing her arms waiting.
Thankfully the elevator arrives stopping our little conversation.
We board and stay silent as the door close and we travel down to the lobby. We exit and I wave to my friend behind the service desk and we run to the car braving the cold. Once inside I start it up and blast the heat. It's hard looking this good when it's freezing out.
"Okay you're in charge of these. Alex isn't allowed to be in charge of directions anymore." I say as I hand Alicia the printer directions and then glare at Alex from the rear view mirror. She just sticks her tongue out at me and crosses her arms. Alicia takes the directions and starts laughing.
"Okay pull out and go right. That should take us back to the highway." Alicia says as I pull out of the parking lot and head down the road.

Wren's POV
How the hell did they convince me to do this? I'm never the type of person to do this. I'm in charge of the anyway so if I wanted to I could say no and there is nothing they could do about it. But I've never used my power against them. They're my friends since birth and I would never do that. I sigh as I break the conversation with myself and look in the mirror one last time. My black hair is pushed back and I'm wearing the clothes my sister picked out for me the second she heard we were going out tonight. A black cotton long sleeve, some jeans and black work boots. Very stylish as she put it.
I give myself one last look and grab my phone before heading downstairs. I walk down the long corridor towards the stairs and walk down the spiral staircase. The whole pack stays here so we need a big house. We have a wing set off just for the high ups such as myself and my family well for now anyway.
The elders have told me that if I cannot find a mate within the next month, I will have to leave my Beta, Mike, to have the job, even though he also does not have a mate which makes no sense to me but when I expressed this at our monthly meeting last week, I was threatened to have exiled so I decided to keep my mouth shut.
Justin, one of our friends, came up with the idea to go to the bar down the street, it's on our land but everyone goes, humans, and others pack members. It's a mutual ground. I guess everyone thinks that maybe my mate will be there. Yeah, I doubt it.
I walk slowly down the stairs and find Justin, Mike and Cody at the bottom all waiting for me.
"There he is, the Prince of being late." Mike calls out to me.
I flip him off in return.
"You know this is all stupid right? There's no hope for me anymore, I'm not gonna find anyone and Mike is going to be in charge. I should just hand the crown over now." I say as I reach the bottom of the steps.
"Hey now!" Justin says. "If I wouldn't die for it, I would slap you right now. Your mate is out there somewhere and tonight we are going to have a good time dammit and I don't need your cranky ass ruining it. got it?"
If he wasn't one of my best friends I would've killed him on the spot for talking to me like that but since I love him I guess I'll let him slide. I roll my eyes and just nodded my head.
"Well then let's get going princess" I say as I motion to the door.
"Yes!" he exclaims and we all follow him out the door.
Once were in the car I sit in the back where I'm usually at and Cody starts up the car. I like Cody, he's quiet, doesn't make me do things I don't want to do. We need more Cody's in the world.
Mike is in the passenger seat and turns the music up super loud and him and Justin scream sing rock and pop the whole way to the bar.
Thank God it's a short ride and it only takes us around fifteen minutes to get there. I look around and realize how full it is. Humans, they always have to travel in packs.... Haha packs. I'm hilarious.
Mike goes and gets each of us a beer. I usually don't drink but while I'm here, one won't hurt right? I take it out of his hands and look around. There's groups of people everywhere. The music is loud, I thought they only played live music here though. Maybe I read something wrong. There's tables set up all around and a stage up in the front of the room. I guess that's where the live music will be later if there really is any. The lights are bright in spots and dim in others, almost like people could have their very own spotlights if they stood in the right places. I look back at the bar and see two girls and a guy tending to it, shaking all sorts of concoctions for the eager patrons waiting around them. Behind them stands about a hundred different bottles of alcohol and the bar itself is lined with a bunch of different beer taps. Must be a pretty popular place.
I look over to the corner where there's a group of guys, they're human but I can see the one eyeing us up. Like chill buddy were not here to steal your thunder, I mean I guess we kind of are but then again what can he do about it? That's right, nothing. I could snap him in half like a toothpick if I really wanted to.
"Chill dude, he didn't do anything to you" Justin says following my gaze over to the guy in the corner. I take a sip of my drink and give him one last glance. I look over at Mike has he downs the last of his beer. Geez the boy can drink. I'm about to comment on it when the lights go dark and a younger looking guy walks onto the stage in the center of the room.
"Welcome everyone! We have a fun line up for you tonight!" some people start cheering. "First up we have a girl group. These girls have been traveling all around the starts preforming for people just like you and me. So let's give it up for them!" He swings his arm out motioning for the girls to come out to the stage.
The first girl to come out is short and skinny, you can tell she likes to attention of the stage, her hair is long and falls in wave behind her. The next girl is almost the exact same as the first but taller, she seems shyer somehow but still holds confidence in the way she walks. The final girl to walk out knocks the breathe out of me as soon as I see her. She's totally different form the other with Jet Black hair that's been cut shorter and straightened. We lock eyes and only one word comes to my mind and I can't help but to say it out loud.
Mate.
