Chapter 2

480 Words
When Isla turned 16 she was desperate to go in search of others like her, she was tired of hiding and the longing inside her to find out more about her past only grew stronger. She wanted to be somewhere she truly felt like she belonged but when she tried to picture the place or any specific it was just blank like she had no idea what that place would look like she was chasing a feeling.  She had expected to have to beg Alpha Alexander to let her study abroad but to her surprise he had agreed and let her go. Isla POV I have been studying at the Solium Institute for nearly 2 years. Of course the Alpha letting me go did not come without conditions. I was to return to the pack whenever I was summoned, I was to keep out of trouble and get good grades. Fortunately, I enjoyed learning and I loved the institute, I wanted to learn as much as I could about absolutely everything.  I had thought that when I joined the institute that I would no longer feel the need to hide and I could just be me, but even with all the different creatures I still felt alone.  The creatures that studied at the institute were varied but they seemed to stick together within their own species. The werewolves that attended were very similar to those from the pack I came from so I chose to keep covering up and try my best to fit in.  I mostly kept to myself taking in as much information as I could and sneaking away to give Aria a run when I could. She was strong and fast and I loved letting her run free I just wish I didn't feel the need to hide her away.  So far I had only been summoned back a few times which was for large pack gatherings or holidays, I hated going I never felt particularly welcome but as I was part of his pack Alpha Alexander had to include me.  The Solium Institute was a place of learning for all magical creatures from every corner of the world it was so diverse and I learnt so much coming back to the pack felt so restricted and cut off, most members had no interest in other creatures and no interest in ever leaving the pack unless of course it was to leave with their mate to their new pack.  I had never given having a mate much thought, it was for sure not something I was interested in. For females the job was to provide pups to continue the bloodline. Male werewolves were very possessive creatures who didn't take well to others even looking in the same direction as their mate. Well it wasn't for me I wasn't going to become some pup making machine that couldn't leave their mates side. I want to see the world.
