Chapter 4

Alpha Soren Ravenwood sat surrounded by his lycan warriors, with Algernon and his household attendants standing in attendance. He was a strikingly handsome man, his facial structure unique and captivating. His eyes were the greenest emerald, his hair as dark as a raven's wings. His entire appearance exuded raw power and masculinity, with broad shoulders which stood proudly and physique built like a greek god, hidden beneath impeccable formal wear. Beside him was his trusted beta, Alec. On the other side was his gamma, Caleb. A dozen warriors surrounded him, shielding him with their bodies, while the larger part of the entourage surrounded Algernon's home. Alpha Soren was bored stiff and he wished the ceremony would begin as soon as possible. He wanted to claim his bride and return to Moonstone. As his eyes scanned the rowdy living room intently, he wondered where she was. He was in no rush to see her, but he would have preferred to catch a glimpse of her before he mated with her. "How long is this going to take?" He leaned towards Alec and asked in a low tone. His voice flowed out smoothly like honey. Alec understood his impatience and chuckled. "The ceremony is just beginning, Alpha." He replied. "It may take a while." They both turned silent, until Alec leaned closer again and whispered. "Are you so impatient to meet your bride?" He teased. Soren scoffed and moved away. "I just want to get this over with. You know how much I hate leaving Moonstone." He said, and his brows pulled together in annoyance. If it had been up to him, he wouldn't have chosen a bride. But he needed an heir. Besides, none of the shifters under his reign knew of the curse that was placed on him. They didn't have to know. It was a secret he was ready to take to the grave. Suddenly Algernon rose to his feet and bowed slightly before him. "It is time to start the ceremonial rites, Alpha." He said. ... "I'll do it." Kaliyah said. Yennefer stared at her suspiciously, wondering why the latter suddenly agreed to her plan. "Why? Weren't you protesting a moment ago?" She asked and narrowed her eyes. "If I had a choice, I wouldn't do it." Kaliyah replied. "But if this means I'll get a chance to leave this pack, I'll do it. Besides, you told me what you'd do if I didn't agree. So what choice do I really have?" Yennefer stared at her stepsister in silence, wondering if she was doing the right thing. But the thought of what the Alpha King would do to her when he discovered she wasn't a virgin made her stick to her decision. "Fine. Now listen very carefully to me, Kaliyah." She hissed. "Once it's time for me to meet the Alpha, this door and the next will be locked. I'm expected to go through this adjoining door to meet him, which is how you'll get in. If he demands to know your name, tell him your name is Yennefer. Do not make the mistake of telling him your real name. Also, try to keep your eyes hidden. If he notices the colour of your eyes, he's going to wonder why mine are brown." Kaliyah nodded attentively while Yennefer gave her a list of do's and don'ts. When Yennefer finished, she grabbed Kaliyah's jaw and snarled in her face. "One more thing, stepsister. If you try to play any dirty games in there, I swear I'll kill you with my bare hands. I don't have to remind you the things I'm capable of." Her grip hurt so much that Kaliyah couldn't hold back the tears that spilled out. "Please, you're hurting me." She mumbled, and Yennefer finally let her go. They stood in the room silently for a few hours, until suddenly, a sound came from the adjoining room. Yennefer gasped and grabbed Kaliyah's arm. "It's time. Go in and don't keep him waiting." She whispered. "Remember what I told you. Make sure you are out by dawn." Before Kaliyah could respond, Yennefer yanked the door open and shoved her into the next room. She froze when she lifted her head and saw the Alpha standing at the side of the bed. He was slowly unbuttoning his shirt, with his back to her. The room was dimly lit, with only a few lantern illuminating the walls. The smell of lilac and roses assailed her nostrils. Kaliyah felt pure terror, and she began to regret her decision. With all the rumours she heard about the Alpha, he could be a murderer. The scariest part was the fact that she was still naive and innocent. A virgin who had no idea what mating was, who had no clue of what to expect. Soren could smell the sweet scent of his bride behind him. It soothed him, much to his surprise. He hadn't expected her smell to be so heavenly, so bewitching. He shrugged off his shirt and faced her. He couldn't see her face clearly, but that wasn't the reason why he was there. At that moment, all he felt within him was desire. "Come here." He murmured softly. As if propelled by invisible hands, Kaliyah slowly walked across the room until she was standing in front of him. Her eyes were averted, her hands trembling beside her. When he lifted his hand to stroke her cheek, she flinched and shut her eyes. "Please Alpha, don't hurt me." A whispered plea escaped her. Soren paused, wondering why she thought he would hurt her. He gently brushed his thumb over her cheek, then lifted her chin so he could stare at her. "Look at me." He voiced out. Kaliyah was trembling so hard she found it difficult to look him in the eye. But his command came again, this time harder, and she couldn't disobey him. She opened her eyes and stared up at him. She couldn't see him clearly, but she knew instantly that he was an extremely handsome man. His eyes, which were so identical to hers, were filled with curiosity. "What is your name, she-wolf?" Soren asked. Kaliyah nearly blurted her name, before remembering. "Yennefer, Alpha." She whispered. "Yennefer." Soren repeated the name as he tried to decipher the colour of her eyes. Were they emerald or was it the trick of the light? "Yes, Alpha." "That's a pretty name, but strangely enough, it doesn't suit you." Of course it didn't suit her, Kaliyah thought. It wasn't her name. She wanted to look away but he held her face firmly. "Don't be scared." He said finally. "I'm not going to hurt you. You're my bride now, a part of me." Kaliyah stared at him in mild surprise, wondering if this was the same Alpha everyone claimed was a murderer. Why was he being so gentle? Soren gazed at the timid she-wolf before him. He would have preferred a bride who wasn't so shy and innocent, a bride who was outspoken and bold. But her beauty appealed to him greatly. He found himself greatly attracted to her. "Trust me, okay?" He added quietly. Kaliyah found herself nodding at him, trusting him. At that moment, she forgot she was taking her stepsister's place. She let herself relax in Soren's strong arms. While she stared into his eyes, Soren slowly undressed her. He peeled back the layers of her dress, took off her earrings and necklace, and threw off the bracelets. Soon she stood totally naked before him. Soren sucked in a deep breath as his eyes devoured her body. She was perfect. He lifted her into his arms and laid her softly on the bed. Kaliyah watched him kick off his pants and cover her body with his, resting his weight on his elbows. She could feel the thickness of his erection against her laps. He parted her thighs and gazed at her lustfully. "This will hurt a little." He whispered. Without warning, he pushed into her core and slammed his full length into her. Amidst her painful scream, he felt her barrier rip open. Swallowing her cries with a kiss, he held her close and thrust into her repeatedly until he emptied himself into her.
