Chapter 1: The New Beginning
Chapter 1: The New Beginning
The cold wind blew softly through the small mountain town of Devgarh as Aanya stepped off the bus. Her suitcase was old, her hands were tired, but her heart held a little hope. She had come here to forget the pain of her past — a betrayal that had broken her completely. Devgarh was quiet, far from the city, and maybe, just maybe, she could start a new life here.
Aanya looked around. The streets were peaceful, lined with old wooden houses and friendly shopkeepers. Children played by the roadside. She smiled for the first time in weeks. Her new job at the town clinic was set to begin tomorrow. For today, she just wanted to settle in and rest.
She found a small guesthouse near the hills. The lady at the counter, Meena Aunty, was warm and talkative. “You’ll like it here, dear,” she said, handing Aanya the room key. “It’s peaceful — mostly.” Aanya noticed the pause in her words but didn’t ask. She was too tired to care.
Later that evening, Aanya went out for a walk. The air was fresh, and the sky was turning pink. That’s when she saw him — a tall man standing alone near the cliff, staring at the valley below. He looked lost in thought, his face half-hidden by shadows. Something about him felt strange. And yet, Aanya couldn’t look away.
As she walked past him, their eyes met. For a second, time stopped. His gaze was intense, like he was searching her soul. Aanya quickly turned away, her heart beating faster. She didn’t know who he was, but something told her — this man would change everything.
Back in her room, Aanya couldn’t sleep. The stranger’s eyes kept flashing in her mind. Who was he? Why did he look so sad — and dangerous?
Outside, the wind howled louder. The quiet town of Devgarh was hiding secrets. And Aanya had just stepped into the heart of them.
