Chapter 1 - Keep On Waiting
Julia The drop-dead gorgeous man was lucky that he was gifted with a body that looked and felt to be chiseled from stone, along with the heart of a saint, because his listening skills were greatly lacking and I was close to coming undone. "I told you HARDER! Do you not know the meaning of the word?! Stop acting like you're secretly playing a game of colf in the alley and don't want to get caught!" My voice was laced with irritation, but lucky for him it was muffled in the bedding I was gripping under my face as I kept my lower half raised in the air, hoping that he'd do as he was told this time. "Are you trying to kill me, woman?! Is my demise your only goal in life?" His breathing was ragged as he gave me everything that he had, trying to fulfill my demands. But I had a trick up my sleeve that he always failed to remember. Magic. "JULIA!" He roared my name in shocked ecstasy as an invisible finger entered him from behind, immediately finding it's mark that brought him pure pleasure. A loud groan escaped his mouth as he thrust into me with so much force that it jarred me to my core, causing us both to reach our peak and quickly collapse into an exhausted pile on my bed. We laid there for a few moments, catching our breath, as our bodies slowly came down from their high. "Fenrir, please, you're a God you silly mongrel. I couldn't kill you even if I tried." Fenrir released a sarcastic breath of air. "Maybe not, but I'm pretty certain that you'll somehow manage to be the death of me." He brought my hand to his lips and gently kissed the back of it. Without a doubt, he was the more caring and romantic one between the two of us. But in all fairness, I'm not allowed to fall head over heels in love with anyone. Ever. I knew this when I agreed to take on the role, but they didn't know the extent of my abilities, either. "I suppose that begging you to give up being the Supreme won't work tonight, will it?" Fen's voice contained a hint of pain as he asked his same question for the millionth time. A part of me hated doing this to him, but I could never allow him to know how much hurting him hurt me in return. "Has it worked yet?" I forced myself to sound cold and sarcastic to cover the sadness and pain from within. He let out a deep sigh. "Can't blame a man for trying, can you?" "I can't give this up, Fen. No matter what. I'm the Supreme for a reason. We've been over this countless times." "Mmmm Hmmmm." He lightly tapped the top of my hand that he was holding with his own, as if he didn't take me seriously. I smacked his huge bicep as hard as I could, knowing that I hurt my own hand far more than I hurt his arm. "I mean it, Fenrir!" "Yes, my powerful sexy witch, I know." He rolled over and placed a hand on one of my breasts as he laid next to me. He didn't play with it, but just held it as we continued to lay there talking. "I won't always look like this, you know. Age will continue to turn these curves into rolls. Will you still want me when the wrinkles completely take over?" I smiled as I teased him. "As long as you stay true to who you are, and don't ever bind yourself up to hide anything, I'll want you no matter what. Besides, then your body will match your hair." Fen chuckled as I slapped his arm again, and he took the opportunity to squeeze the breast that he was holding. "They don't know that I know, Fenny." My voice was quiet as I turned our conversation to a more serious matter. He quickly let go of my breast as he propped himself up onto his arm to look me in my eyes. His dark brown eyes questionably pierced into my soul. "Now this we haven't discussed before. What are you talking about?" His voice became serious as he knew what I was getting at. I sat up to stare into the fire that was burning brightly to warm my single room house. "They think they're smarter and better than everyone, you know. How they rule over and control all of us. They keep us all divided, and in turn we all battle with ourselves and each other over trivial matters, not paying them any attention while they play us all like puppets. I see what they're doing. I know where this will eventually lead." "Julia, you need to stay out of this. Their day will come, you have got to believe me, but please, do NOT throw yourself into it." The tone of Fenrir's voice matched the seriousness in his eyes as he stared at me. "I know that this is something that you don't want to discuss, but I don't want to lose you, do you understand me?" "You greatly underestimate me and my abilities," my voice was a whisper. If at all possible, I had to have him believe that I doubted myself, if only a little. "You forget that I'm a God, I know more than you think I do." But did he? Or was he hoping that in saying so I would tell him everything? "And you forget that witches have been around far longer than werewolves and vampires, my dear boy. I have not made it this long by being weak and ignorant." I smiled as he scoffed at my choice of words. Oh, how I loved our banter. "What is it that you're not telling me, Julia?" "You know how you told me to trust you?" Fen squinted his eyes at me and pierced his lips, knowing his words were going to come back to bite him. "Exactly, you're going to have to trust me, and you're also going to have to trust in my abilities and that I know my role in how this plays out." "I really don't like where this is going." He grumbled, knowing better than to put up too much of a fight with me once my mind was made up. "You don't really have a say in the matter, and you know it, Fen. But I'm really going to have to work on my acting skills and try to perfect the ability to hide my emotions." Fenrir snorted and I turned to give him an unimpressed look. "I'm sorry, love. But your facial expressions give you away. I swear you could kill people with the looks that you give them." "Keep it up and we'll give that theory a trial run." I paused long enough to exhale the breath that I held in. This next part was going to be a little difficult. "I need you to get me some of your silver." "Come again?" he asked me with an eyebrow raised almost to the top of his smooth head. "You heard me. Don't make me repeat myself." "What do you need that for? That's nothing to mess around with, and you know that." "If I told you, I'd have to kill you." I smiled and winked, hoping that he'd easily cave. But I wasn't that lucky. Of course, I wouldn't be that lucky, Fenrir knows me too well. "Nice try, love, you're not going to get out of it that easily. Now how about you actually answering the question that I asked?" Fenrir laid down, pulling me onto his large chest in the process. I listened to his beating heart while he gently rubbed my head and played with my grey hair. I sighed, knowing I was going to have to do a lot of lying in my future, but I hated having to lie to him. However, I also needed to be careful with what I said. Giving too much information to anyone, even him, could lead to an outcome that no one would want. "There's going to be a time when its protection power is going to be needed." Just bits and pieces, that's all I had to feed him, like crumbs to a mouse. A little bit at a time. "Protection? For who? For you? From who? Or what?" "So many questions at once!" I tapped my index finger on his chest and sighed. "Silly boy, do you really think that I'm the one that needs protection? No, not for me. Someone else will need it. Someone very important who has to go through a lot of pain in their life to become the person they are meant to be. The person they are needed to be." "Nothing like giving me a lot of information without giving me any information at all." "It is what it is, Fenny, you know that." Oh, how I wish that I could just come clean about everything I saw, everything I know. But this is something that I didn't dare risk. I felt his lips press against my head as he left a chaste kiss behind. "For you, I will see what I can do. Is there anything else that you need from me?" I hesitated only briefly before asking my next question. "How is Dis doing since Persephone's death?" "Not good. He spends far too much time beneath the surface amongst evil souls. Word has it, he's basically like a hermit and close to breaking. Why do you ask about him?" "You know he and Hecate have never seen eye to eye. They both cared for Persephone, but if it wasn't for Hecate, Demeter wouldn't have known who had Seph to begin with. If he snaps, I need to make sure he won't come after my Goddess and her children. That he won't come after me." "Dis is a lot of things, but he's not stupid. He's not even really a bad guy at all. He's just not great at winning women over like I am." Fenrir chuckled at his own words as he lightly caressed my back. "You know as well as I do how love controls. It has caused wars, murders, and suicides. The unforgivable has been forgiven, while family has been deserted for it. It has healed souls and ruined minds. It makes those who seek it do crazy things. That's why I'm not supposed to fall in love and form a binding connection with anyone." "I guess it's a good thing that I'm a God and not just anyone, huh?" I hugged the body of the man that I was lying on, pressing my head into the sounds of his beating heart even more. I basked in the moments we had together while I was waiting on a changing world, praying to the powers that be for his forgiveness for the things I must do.
