Chapter One
Walking out of the restaurant I hit the lock button to find the car. Beep beep I jump at the close proximity of the sound and glance to my side a at a shiny black Sports car, I glance in surprise at the key in my hand, the key like my own for my shitty sedan had a rabbits foot, a old fashioned luck charm that nobody carried anymore, I had mistakenly took for my own when I snatched the keys from the valet desk. I look back up to the car and take in its curves and glossy lines. I feel a grin spread across my face as I take a step towards the car, I voice inside my try’s to tell me that this is a bad idea. f**k it, it’s still early in the evening. I’ll take this baby for a real drive and then I’ll just bring it back. I find myself climbing behind the wheel, and starting the car the pure of the engine has wave of excitement and pleasure vibrating through me, the inside of the car smells like woods and something yummy. I sit there and let the vibrations of the idling engine run through my body as I stroke the leather wheel and shift. I hesitate for a moment but the tiny voice in my head seem to be absent. Ignoring my lack of internal dialogue I find my self shifting the gears for the car and backing out. As soon as I’ve cleared the spot I slam on the gas and with a jolt I speed out of the parking pass the main doors to the restaurant and out to the streets I speed away from the city towards the edge of town where thick dark trees line the road and there’s not a street lamp in sight. I take the curves and turn like a pro, all of a sudden the car starts to hum and slows I press on the gas and breaks. But the car continues to slow until it comes to a stop along the side of the road. I check the meter it’s not out of go go juice. Uh oh I try the door and it’s locked I hit the switch but it stays locked. Oh f**k! I start to panic and the little voice that has been silence starts to laugh I’m my head, shut up! Whoever’s car I must have ‘borrowed’ must have some kind of fancy theft system installed to stop and Entrap the said ‘borrower.’
Who are you kidding! You stole the damn car and took it for a ride! Ugh shut up shut up I scream at the voice inside my head. I look through the glove departments for anything that could get me out of here. I’m about to give up when I find Swiss army knife. Last thing I need is my crazy ass going to jail. I choose a tool with a pointed end, and aim at the corner of the window I practice my swing before putting as much of weight into it. I try a couple of times then review my options I pick another tool swing it again on the second swing the window fractures.I drop the tool and move to kick at the window. Holy f**k! I Kick it until the window folds I scramble out of the window and fall hard onto the tarmac scraping my elbow and palm making it bleed. I see a pair of head lights shine and light the trees in the distance. I scramble up, I need to put distance between me and this car and fast if I don’t want to go to jail. I start running, in the distance I here a car stop and doors open and closing and I run a little faster. I don’t know for how long I ran but I was tired and these f*****g woods went on forever. The voices in my head growing louder the more exhausted I became. Until they were yelling at me, mocking me. I was about to give in to the exhaustion when light broke through the trees curious and hoping for escape from the trees I approach the clearing and stumble into the light, I stand at the edge of a maculate lawn a paved driveway with giant mansion lit up like a Christmas tree, In front of the house shits a shiny black sports car with a shattered window. I stumble back In shock. I turn to run stumbling back into the cover of the woods, before I make it more then a foot my head starts to spin and my ears ring the voices screaming at me to turn back, turn myself in. It’s too much for my exhausted bodysuit to take and I collapse to the ground. The smell of dirt, woods and something yummy, and shouting from the direction of the mansion as bare feet approach.
