Chapter four
Mia's anxiety just tripled, she was no longer playing with the hem of her dress but grabbing it tightly leaving wrinkles on the lush fabric.
“Now I want you to think I'm your boyfriend or ex boyfriend and we are so in love.Just act naturally.”Liam whispered through gritted teeth, plastering a smile on his face so his grandmother and mother don't suspect anything.
“Trust me, you do not want me to imagine you as my ex boyfriend. If I do, I'm going to send a flying kick your way, bite you until you vomit all my money that you stole!.”Mia whispered back, Liam was taken quite back.
“Oh come on now, don't be shy and come closer. You are not going to stand at the entrance all day.”Liam's mother, Ava beckoned.
Liam chuckled wryly, “Okay, just remember that 8 million dollars is at stake for you.How about that?.”Liam suggested as he quietly dragged Mia along.
“Forget my mother's face and focus on the room instead.Distract yourself with the crystal chandelier, the painted ceiling, the luxurious drapery or the artwork. You are going to be just fine.”Liam assured Mia while she tried to work up a smile.
“Oh my God, she's so pretty.”Ava said to madam Olivia.
“Yes, she definitely is.Makes one wonder why William kept her hidden for so long.”Madam Olivia argued.
“Good day ma'am.”Mia greeted politely, bowing her head a little.
Liam proceeded to hug his grandmother and pecked his mother on her cheeks.
“Hi dear, you are absolutely stunning but we could do something with your style. That hairstyle just doesn't befit you.”Ava complimented with a little criticism.
“Mom there's no need for that, she looks pretty and I love her that way.”Liam defended as he reached for Mia's hand again and was surprised to find it still sweaty.
“Well, surely she is but she could look so much better. You agree with me, don't you darling?.”Ava averted her gaze to Mia who was quick to avoid her gaze.
“Y..yes…ss.s ma'am.”Mia stuttered and madam Olivia came to her rescue this time.
“The table is set, come along dear.”Madam Olivia reached for Ava’s hand supporting herself with her walking stick.
Ava linked her arms with Liam and they all headed to the dining.
“So what took you so long to introduce her?.”Ava asked as the maids cleared the table and began to serve dessert which was a cake with frosting.
“You know she's my employee and I was a tad bit worried that you guys wouldn't approve. With her social status and due to the fact that she was working with the company.”Alexander lied as he turned to look at Mia who was a little bit flushed.
Liam couldn't tell if she was blushing or just embarrassed that she was a part of this big lie, either way he was happy that her anxiety was gone and was no longer using monosyllabic words.
“Silly you,we absolutely love Mia already.Right Ava?.”Madam Olivia stated,as she fiddled with the cup on a saucer.
“Yes we do and I can't wait to go on all my shopping spree with her.And as for the wedding shopping,I was thinking we could go to Paris.”Ava suggested excitedly while Mia choked on her tea.
“Oh my God,did I ruin the surprise for Liam already? He told us you are going to be his wife so I just assumed you knew.I’m so sorry.”Ava apologized while madam Olivia pinched her slightly under the table.
“Yes mom,I was going to propose to Mia tonight but since you already ruined the surprise…I might as well do it here.”Liam pushed his chair back slightly and got on one knee.
All the women in the room gasped at the same time.
Mia's eyes widened, she had a frozen expression.Liam never mentioned this to her.
Liam didn't mention it to her because he wanted her to be surprised and knew she wouldn't be able to fake that.
“Will you marry me, Mia Terrence?.”Liam popped the question.
Mia nodded her head as she couldn't get the words out of her mouth.
“Oh sweetheart, you need to respond.I’m recording this.”Ava revealed,Mia carefully dropped her glass on the table.
“Yes,I will.”She answered as she stretched out her trembling fingers.
Liam slid the finger on her ring and gently pulled her up from her seat.
“Get ready to be kissed.”That was the only warning Mia got before Liam put his hand around her waist, pulled her close to himself and kissed Mia with his tongue.
Mia just stood there, eyebrows flicking up as her mouth was invaded.

The wedding was finally over as Mia looked down at the well-wishers that came from the jet that she was in.She covered her face with her hands knowing that in a matter of months, she was going to be branded as a cheating w***e to each and every one of them, including her mother.
Mia always knew that her mother didn't exactly care about her, especially since she has always blamed her for the death of her father.
But Mia still hoped that her mother would have questions about her suddenly getting married but she didn't especially after finding out that the groom was Alexander Liam.
“Are you okay?.”Liam asked her and she glared at him.
“I warned you not to shove your tongue down my throat but you did it anyway.”She screamed at him while Liam just shrugged infuriating Mia more.
“It was our wedding day, how could I peck my bride?.”Liam questioned but it seems like that was a fuel that just added to Mia's rage which was a burning fire.
“I can't wait to get away from you…”
“Oh we can make that happen now.I will get you a parachute and you get off the plane.Hoorah,a flying bride!.”Liam joked but Mia didn't find it funny at all.
She clenched her fists so tightly that her knuckles began to turn white.
“Oh,I hate you!.”She screamed at his face.
“If it gladdens your heart, the feeling is slightly mutual.”Liam responded.
Mia huffed and rested her head on the seat.
As they got into the hotel suite, Liam's phone rang but Mia didn't even bother. She just wanted to get the extravagant dress that Liam's mother chose off her.
“Hi grandma,we just got to the hotel.”Liam said over the phone while Mia struggled with her zipper and she would be darned to ask Liam to help her out.
In just a month, she realized how much of a jerk he was and was patiently waiting for December.
“What?!.”She heard Liam exclaim and that got her attention.
“Congratulations grandma, why don't I call you tomorrow to congratulate you properly?.”Liam hung up the call, but he wasn't looking so happy.
“What happened?.”Mia inquired.
Liam angrily pulled at his tie but annoyingly,he couldn't unknot it.
“Grandma's doctor has been trying to reach her but couldn't.She was obviously not with her due to the wedding. He wanted to tell her that based on her recent test results, she might have 2 years more after all…I didn't get the rest of the details…”
“What?!.I thought she couldn't live beyond 6 months?.”Mia cut him off, trying to be sure that she heard the right thing.
“Turns out she has more luck after all.Looks like you won't be getting that Christmas gift at all, mazel tov!.”
