The clearing near the pack’s ceremonial grounds had been transformed since I’d agreed to the mating. Lanterns hung from tree branches, casting a warm glow over the space despite the morning sunlight. Wooden benches had been arranged in a semicircle around a small raised platform decorated with flowers and greenery. The scent of pine mingled with wildflowers and freshly turned earth. Someone—probably Riley—had woven elaborate garlands that draped across the platform, dotted with tiny white flowers that reminded me of stars against the green backdrop.
