Prologue
It was dark and misty outside, and the temperature was dropping slowly as dawn approached. A family of meerkats came popping out of their underground burrow. Sniffing the air and standing up straight, there was nothing they could to see, and yet the leader of the bunch kept stiff and quiet, he could sense danger. Something was close, moving through the mist. Suddenly the little family moved in unison as they darted back disappearing into the burrow below.
A figure emerges out of the mist, walking past the burrow towards a sleepy small town in the distance, she stops abruptly as if she has hit an invisibly barrier.
"Yes!" she thinks, this is it, I have finally found the gate.
She has been searching for it for 3000 years. Ever since they were banished from earth and now finally she has found it, but how to get past it, she wonders. She takes a few steps back and unleashes some magic, it bounces of the barrier, doing nothing, but she is not discouraged. She attacks the barrier again and again, trying different spells, nothing happens. Finally she uses her fire power, slowly at first, she doesn't want to attract attention, after what feels like hours, the sun is high in the sky, the barrier slightly gives way, she is tired and hot, but seeing her power working invigorates her. She tries harder, a hole is definitely forming.
Suddenly the weather changes rapidly, clouds cover the sky instantly and the wind becomes fierce. The woman steps back from the barrier, rolling her eyes. Without turning around she speaks.
"Ah, old friend we meet again!" she says in a cold voice.
"We were never friends Dagon!!" the old man behind her says quietly.
Dagon laughs a shrill cold laugh, and turns to face her opponent.
"Come now, Ouranos, our battle was 3000years ago, surely you aren't still holding a grudge?"
"Let bygones, be bygones" Dagon says, with a evil smirk on her face
"What are you doing her Dagon?, the portal to earth is off limits, you know that! the man says sounding irritated.
"I just wanted to check in on some of my children".... she starts to say, but the man interrupts her.
They are not yours Dagon.... and all you miss is the power they gave you" Ouranos says disdain in his voice for the woman in front of him.
"Now leave here immediately, or I will end what I started years ago" he says threateningly
Dagon laughs at him again, but she is visibly nervous. Ouranos is much more powerful than her. He is the after all King of Gods. She recovers quickly and smiles at him again.
"Very well, my King" she mocks starting to circle the man
" I will leave!" she smirks at him still circling him.
The man keeps his ground, he is supreme power and not afraid of a low level creature like her. He watches her circle, she tries to act confident, but he can smell her fear from where he stands. Suddenly she tries to teleport closer, but he blocks her. She moves with lighting speed, throwing magic spells at him, they have no affect. He smiles at her, shaking his head in disappointment. Her laughter has faded, and her eyes are wild, she tries to teleport again, but he know her every move. He is playing with her, she can't escape, she throws her full power at him, taking him off guard for a second, but then he merely waves it away with a flick of his wrist.
"Are you done Dagon? Do you really wish to die" he says smiling at her.
Dagon's power is spent, she is breathing heavily, but she stands up tall and faces the old man again.
She laughs her menacing laugh again before answering him.
"No Ouranos, it is not my time, but yours" and starts laughing at him again.
The man is getting tired of her games, he raises his hand to her, her laughter stops, replaced for a second with a terrified look on her face before she regains control.
"Before you strike old King, tell me..... do you really think I came alone?" she says coldly.
Ouranos smirks at her attempt to frighten him, he can sense other deity's, there is no-one else near.
He is done with her, he raises his hand again, the terror is back in her eyes, they dart from side to side as she looks for help. Have they abandoned her? Gods, you never can trust them she thinks, resigning herself to her fate.
Suddenly Ouranos, gasps, stepping forward as if he was pushed. He looks down, a scythe is protruding from his abdomen, before he can react, the scythe is pulled back, and slices at him again, he is grabbed and pinned to the ground by four more deity's. The scythe falls again and again in quick succession, slicing the old King to pieces.
He can hear Dagon's shrill laughter, he looks at his attackers. A young man steps closer.
"Chronos" he says "most useless of all, I should have known!"
"No father, you would never have thought it possible" the young man mocks
"But let it be known, that I Chronos ended the the real monster!" he shouted giving one final blow of the scythe. Before the scythe landed, Ouranos, waved his hand, and the portal to the mortal realm disappeared once again. Dagon screamed in fury and then the God King was no more.
Chronos's four helpers, separated the pieces of the God King and casted them away to the four corners of the earth. They then start teleporting away.
"What about the mortal realm" Dagon screeches at them.
"You are welcome to search for it witch" Chronos smirks at her.
"My job here is done" he says before teleporting away.
Dagon screams in frustration, she was so close. Her master would be furious.
It would be another couple of thousand years before they find it again.
