They called me barren. They called me broken. They were wrong on both counts. For five years, I was the perfect Luna. I gave up my warrior’s path, my father, the life I was raised to live. All of it, to honor the mate bond that chose me. All of it, for a man who looked through me like I was glass. Then she came back. The woman he was going to marry before fate gave him me instead. She walked into our pack after three years gone and she did not come alone.“You should be grateful,” my husband told me that morning, sliding a document across his desk.He has no idea what I am carrying. He has no idea what I used to be.He has no idea the rival pack is gathering at our borders and his Luna is the only one who sees the knife at our throats.I was raised to be Gamma. I was trained to command. And the warrior he buried when he claimed me as his mate? She never actually died.

Chapter 1
I can’t stop staring at the two lines on the test strip. Finally….after five long years of waiting. I am pregnant. A small smile cracks my lips as a flood of relief rushes through me. The look on my husband’s face when I break the news to him wafts into my imagination and it is glorious. I can feel butterflies and bees having a contest inside my stomach as my body tingles with a rush of excitement. Barely able to contain my joy, I snatch the strip off the vanity and dash into the bedroom. I have to give him the news. In a flash, I change out of my night wear into a bodycon gown, his favorite kind of dress for me to wear. I blush hard, remembering how those sexy blue eyes of his always linger for longer on me when the dress shows my figure. As I slip the strip into my purse, I stare at the side of my husband’s bed that hasn’t been slept in for days now and my mood sours…. He says it’s work at the office and pack matters that keeps him from coming home but I know he’s lying. I am the Luna. I know everything happening in the pack and nothing right now should keep him overnight at work for so many days. Nothing except the fact that he has grown tired of me and probably wants to replace me with a new Luna but I can’t blame him. What man wouldn’t grow tired of a woman who can’t give him a child after five years? I heave a deep sigh and exhale the weariness out of me as I make my way to the pack office. Once Eli sees the pregnancy results, our problems will be a thing of the past. I’m sure of it. The closer I get to his office, the more jittery my nerves become like I would literally die if I don’t tell him right away. “Babe, you won’t believe what I’m about to tell you!” I squeal from outside, pushing the door to his office open but the sight that welcomes me sucks all the excitement out of my soul and my heart clenches with a kind of pain I haven’t felt since my father disowned me for marrying Eli. I blink repeatedly in confusion as I stare at Eli and the woman he is holding hands with, standing by his desk, their faces barely inches apart. Eli lets go of her immediately he sees me and the lady takes a step back. She scratches the back of her head with a demeanor of guilt, unable to raise her eyes to look at me as she speaks. “My apologies Freya, I didn’t know you—” “That’s Luna to you now,” I cut her off coldly and my heart pounds. “What–” I hesitate and scrunch my brows, my eyes darting between them, “what are you doing here?” This woman isn’t just any random woman having an intimate moment with my husband, she is his ex-girlfriend. Victoria Scott. Eli was going to marry her. The only reason they didn’t get married was because he found me as his mate before they could take that step and a few days after that fateful day, Victoria disappeared. My heart clenches even harder as I wait for a response. “I came to get the papers for my new residence from the Alpha. I was just thanking him—Luna…..” she drawls on my title to make a point of my correction and she locks eyes with me, eyes full of a sly expression. She drags a document off the table and puts it in her bag and Eli returns to his seat. I look from her to him, thinking I didn’t hear her correctly. Residence papers? Is she moving back here? The thought makes my heart pound faster and my stomach suddenly feels hollow. Eli’s expression is calm as our eyes meet, completely unreadable and for the first time in my life I wish I had psychic powers to read minds so I can read his. “I’m so sorry I haven’t come to pay my respects since I returned. One month is such a short period when you have a lot of catching up to do,” she turns to face Eli, “thank you so much my hero,” she smiles at me, “I really hope you can forgive me Freya but I have to go now.” She practically hops out of the office after detonating a huge bomb inside it. A month. She’s been back for an entire month and Eli did not think to mention it to me? My chest twists with pain as a dreadful realisation dawns on me. Eli’s many overnights at work lately was never about my supposed barrenness. The woman he loves returned and it was so easy for him to replace the warmth of my bed with hers. Their love story was a unique one. Eli was the next Alpha of the pack and Victoria— just the omega in charge of cleaning his room but somehow she went from cleaning his sheets to laying in them and Eli made sure the world knew he belonged wholeheartedly to her with any and every chance he got. I know the only reason he honored our matebond was because Victoria left and now that she is back, she will take him. He’s already spending nights out of the house to be with her. What happens next? “What was it you wanted to tell me?” Eli asks, breaking my thoughts, his sexy blue eyes momentarily stealing my breath as always but I’m quickly brought back down to earth as I take another breath invaded by Victoria’s smell. Against all odds and opposition, Eli chose to be with Victoria, it’s not a love I can compete against but if I have any shot at fighting for my mate and marriage, the test result in my purse would be the first ammunition. I clutch my purse and my heart pounds even harder, my lips part to speak but before I can get the word out, the door flies open and a little boy runs in toward Eli. “Daddy!” He yells, throwing himself on Eli.
