Heartbroken was not a word we werewolves used lightly. It was a sacred thing that happened once in a blue moon. In fact, it was the fear of heartbreak that made many mated couples of old stay together. The fear of heartbreak was that deep.
I could count on one hand how many couples that had broken up after mating or even after finding each other. There was only one reason: total incompatibility. Once, both died from the loss and the distance before the elders could intervene.
