‘I have some good news, David,’ Raymond Sharpe told him at their next meeting.
‘Yeah? Tell me. Tell me.’ David said, excitedly rocking back and forth his chair like a child offered a treat.
‘The CCRC have reviewed your case and have assigned the investigation to a Case Review Manager. This is the first step along the process.’
‘Does that mean it’ll go to the Appeal Court, now?’ David asked excitedly.
‘No, as I said, it is just the first step along a long and tricky road. I do have to warn you again not to get your hopes up. The case review manager may well decide, after reviewing all the documents, even after getting all the police case files, that there is still no prospect of the case going to the Appeal Court.’
