TWENTY-NINE As DCI Grace Swan and DS Terry Horton entered the mortuary room, fully attired in green scrubs and white rubber boots, the body of the unidentified female lay upon the mortuary slab in the autopsy suite at the Medico-Legal Centre on Watery Street in Sheffield. Erika Berger, the Home Office pathologist had completed her preparations for the autopsy and was now studying a Digital Autopsy scan, seeking preliminary information on a possible cause of death, discussing her findings with John Michaelson from the coroner’s office who would be observing the autopsy on behalf of the coroner.
