The first night

893 Words
I wake up with a jump, looking towards the large window it is still pitch dark outside meaning it's still nighttime. I start wondering what woke me up when there is a loud noise outside. I slowly get up en use my cellphone as a light to guide me towards the door. Once I'm in the hallway I realize that I have no idea how we got to my room last night. So like a fool I start walking and obviously get lost. Still stammering in the dark I suddenly walk into what feels like a brick wall. As I raise my eyes up I gasp when I see Noah, with a very stern look on his face. I'm about to say sorry when he puts his big hand over my mouth to keep me quiet. I jump a little when there is another loud noise coming from downstairs, only this time I am fairly certain that it sounded like a gunshot. Next to me Noah seems to be in a trance and its to dark for me to gather any information from his face. Luckily he seems to snap out of it and removes his hand from my mouth while dragging me close behind him until we are in front of what I guess is my room, because he pushes me inside and close the door. I stare blankly at the closed door before softly opening the door again. As I try to sneak down the hallway I start hearing a hushed argument between Noah and Abby. 'She should not be here, she is not one of us. Dammit Abigail, we are on the verge of a war!' 'Don't give me that crap, you know she is special, I saw it when you met her. She is staying. She is part of this family. We will protect her..' she was cut of by him sniffing the air and if my ears did not mislead me, growled, before rounding the corner and glaring at me with his piercing blue eyes. Abby quickly follows and take my hand saying we need to check on the kids. My heart is racing and my mind have so many questions.. What war? Why do I need to be protected? But instead of pushing for answers I remain quiet while following her quick pace. We reach a flight of stairs and she start speed walking making me have to jog up the stairs. As we reach the top she suddenly says 'we are doing cardio in the morning'. I nod, not knowing if she was talking to me of herself. She stops in front of a row of doors and goes to open the first. Luke's room has light blue walls, dark wood furniture and even though he is a child, he has a king size bed in the centre of the room. He wakes up as soon as we enter. She takes his little hand and we go to the next room. I am surprised to see the exact same room design in his room. Next we each went to get one of the girls. Leaving only mr creepy, and judging by the sounds of moaning coming from his room I would guess he is not alone. Abby hears it too and motions for me to go in while she starts directing the others to go to the gym. So I am standing before Clay's door. I decide to knock, but there is no response so I take a breath, close my eyes and open it. After taking several steps, and the moaning not stopping I open my eyes and stare at the picture in front of me. On his bed lays a girl bound to the four posts, very naked I might add, while he is leaving a trail of lovebites from her ankle upwards. Not wanting to see what he does next, I decide to clear my throat. This time he does here me. While remaining eye contact I tell him we need to go to the gym. And start turning but stop, biting my lip, 'you don't know where the gym is, do you?' he asks with a smirk. After he unbound the girl and got dressed the three of us go with him leading the way. Once we reach the gym he uses his fingerprint to enter and the rest of the family is gathered. As I scan the room I become uneasy for some unknown reason when I can't find Noah. When I look to Abby she is already watching me and she too seems tense. After the longest twenty minutes in the bunker - gym combo in dead silence, the door finally opens and Noah comes in with bruises all over his hands and face with Allen following behind him. Abby seems to regain control when she tells Allen to get the cars ready. By now I am really confused but nobody seems to want to tell me what is happening. I look up to find Noah's eyes on me, but he immediately looks away. When I look to my side Clay is watching me too with an odd expression on his face. He keeps my gaze for a long time as if searching for answers in my eyes before finally sighing and looking down to the girl on his lap.
