Chapter 8 The sweet song of a robin trilled in the distance. It drew Layne from the deep slumber holding him prisoner, catapulting him back to the real world. The sun had begun its ascent into the sky. Soon, it would burst through the blinds and light up the room. Right on cue, a wave of warmth swept over Layne’s face. He didn’t mind the heat, didn’t mind the way it spread across his skin. It awakened his senses as much as his energy. He flexed his muscles and stretched the stiffness from his limbs.
