An uncanny silence lingered in the living room as everyone gawked at Chelsea, including Layne. Curiosity spun from every direction. The news she delivered was more than he and his friends could process.
The heart-wrenching cry of a newborn broke the tension. All eyes fell on Hope as she handed her nephew back to Faith, who’d joined them. When Layne refocused on Chelsea, he noticed Jerry leave the doorway. He slid against the wall to a spot close to Layne and Nicholas. Chelsea held his attention, but not because of curiosity.
