Chapter 15 The sound of rain pelting the sliding glass doors irritated Layne. He was sick of the dreary weather. It paired perfectly with the mood in the house, something else he thought he’d escaped by going to the den. He couldn’t escape the craziness. As he faced the fireplace mantle, he stared at a picture of Heaven. If she were with him, she would help him process all the information he’d learned today. The knowledge spun inside his mind, twisting it until nothing made sense. And Captain Laveaux had received a phone call, which meant Layne hadn’t been able to ask him any questions yet.
