Chapter Sixteen
I hadn’t seen Jen since that weekend. Both of our schedules were extremely busy. Jen was a Human Resources Specialist or 42A, which was a very busy job in the military. She handled the paperwork much the way an executive administrative specialist would do. I wanted to see her again. She was heavily on my mind the minute I awoke the next day. I sent her an early morning text.
Me: Good morning. R U up?
Jen: No, it’s early
Me: You’re in the Army, why are you still in bed.
Jen: I like my bed
Me: Can I come join you
Jen: Sure
Her quick one-word response made me pause.
Me: Did you say okay?
Jen: Dude what the hell? I said yes are you coming or not?
Me: Yes, I’m on my way.
Jen: Do you still have my address
Me: Yes
Jen: Well hurry the hell up, I don’t have all day…
