Chapter 2

I took a deep breath, trying to control my anger and hatred towards him. I always envisioned how our next meeting would be,how I would smash my fist on his ugly face and prove to him that he made a mistake rejecting me. With him standing behind me, I could do none of that. The matter at hand affecting our kind was too serious and more important than my hatred and anger towards him so I swallowed my bitterness and nodded. I listened as he walked away only to halt after a few steps. “ This place is forbidden. No one is allowed to be here." He said before walking away. Looking around, that's when I realised that the houses around were all abandoned. I could not help but chuckle. Does he despise me so much that he sealed off the place? Turning around, I walked back to my room. I always thought that I hated him but why did it hurt after hearing his words? Why did it feel like someone was squeezing my heart tightly? Shoving those unpleasant thoughts at the back of my mind, I decided to take a short nap. I was woken up by the sound of someone knocking on the door. With groggy eyes, I walked to open the door. “ I can't believe this!" Those were the words I heard immediately as the door flung open. Rubbing my eyes, Fiona's face came into sight. She had a frown on her face as she glared at me. “ I can't believe you fell asleep. The party begins in less than ten minutes." She gasped and that's when it hit me. Oh right! The party! “Don't worry, I'll be there before the party starts. You can go ahead." Since she was already dressed, I could not keep her waiting. Besides with her present, no one would think that the Crest moon pack was rude by arriving late to the party. Before the clock struck seven, I was ready. Taking one last glance at myself, I completed the look with my signature face mask. The atmosphere at the pack screamed of tranquility and serenity, something that I always enjoyed in the past. With two rivers running through the pack land and a big forest stretching miles away to the borders, Bloodmist pack always felt close to nature. Stepping inside the ball room, gasps filled the room and I effortlessly stole the spotlight. Without any regard to anything in the world, I made my way to the spot reserved for Crest moon pack. I spotted Fiona who was grinning at me, making me roll my eyes at her. She was sure enjoying parading me to the whole world. The party was in full swing as Alphas and their Betas chatted happily. “ You sure Know how to make a grand entrance." Fiona mused and I glared at her. I would have jumped through the window if everyone could be ignorant enough to not notice that. “Turns out the mysterious alpha of the Crest moon pack is actually a woman." Someone murmured loud enough for me to hear. For a society ruled by chauvinistic men, having a female Alpha was unheard of. I mean, what can a woman do? Yet within the five years I took over as the Alpha of Crest moon pack, everyone heard about my work. The Crest moon pack which was on the verge of collapsing rose to its feet, even surpassing giant packs with hundreds of years of legacy. Choosing to ignore them, I took a sip of my wine. Fiona excused herself to socialize with the other packs which has always been her work. Being introverted as they call me, I prefer my silence. “ It's a pleasure to meet such a beautiful woman tonight." A voice sounded next to me forcing me to regard the intruder. A young man stood there with a smile on her face. “ That's such a common pickup line." I replied ignoring him and taking another sip of my alcohol. The cold drink burned down my throat, the sweet sting making me numb. The man chuckled awkwardly, making me cough. That was rude of me, I admonished myself inwardly. “ Alpha Rivera!" I said, stretching my hand for a handshake. “ Alpha Kaiser of Lock Heart pack." He said, taking my hand in his and kissing the back. “ I think everyone knows you so the introduction is unnecessary." I said, snickering. “ I didn't Know that I was that famous! Even the mysterious alpha Rivera took a liking to me." The Man shamelessly declared. " Don't be so full of yourself. No woman in their sane mind would take a liking to a womanizer. Your reputation precedes you.” I shot back. “ Why do I have a feeling you don't like me?" Alpha Kaiser àsked, a frown marred on his face. “I don't like you actually. I hate men who can't stick their d***s into one pussy." I don't know why seeing him reminded me of a certain someone. I frowned when I felt a sharp gaze directed to me. Looking around, no one seemed to be staring at me yet that feeling of being watched still lingered. “ You sound so bitter, Alpha Rivera. For an unmated woman like you, you should not have such a sharp tongue." Alpha Kaiser commented and I only rolled my eyes at him. “In case you change your opinion about me, how about you give me a call? I like you and would like to make you my Luna." He offered me his card which I took and shoved inside my purse. With how persistent he seemed even after all the rude words he said, I figured that taking the card would save me some headache. Excusing myself, I walked out of the ballroom. With so much noise from the music and people chattering, I decided to breathe some fresh air. I hadn't walked for long when I halted in my steps. “ Alpha Rivera huh? You almost had me fooled Valeria. Life seems to have treated you well after you ran away from me.”
