Who is Maroukka?
Maroukka was a man who lived in a small village near the coast of a river in the state of Megla. The river was named Kurumali. Although Maroukka was an aethist earlier in his life, his family was very devotional and from a Hindu background. There was a temple in front of his house. During the beginning of the century in which Maroukka lived, the temple was only opened to the higher castes of Hindus. Maroukka was born in a lower-caste family. But, his parents were involved in the manufacturing of that temple. They were also prohibited from entering the temple. After many rebellions made by the great humanists, the temple was opened to people from all the castes. Maroukka was a strong and serious person. He was well deserved, diplomatic, decent, annoyable and gentle. He was very handsome and well educated. With every other fortune, he was devoid of money, luck and happiness all throughout his life. He had to depend on others for his life. But, he lived with hopes until his early death in middle age. The story describes the hurdles in life that have continued till the last moments of maroukka. Maroukka was not alone during these phases. He had his innocent wife and children.
