Chapter Two
Idris watched the evening news on TV in his motel room,. He had trouble paying attention. He kept thinking back to earlier in the day. There was absolutely no way he wasn’t going to be handed Exsul status now. Roman’s pack would all vote for it. Liara couldn’t get her entire pack to vote in his favor. Quite a few people in his new pack didn’t like him and would vote against him. He made a lot of enemies in his time before he finally decided to settle down.
There was a knock at the door. Idris slid out of bed and opened the door, wondering gloomily who it could be. To his surprise, Darlene’s bright blue eyes stared up at him. Concern was written all over her face.
“I’m sorry to bother you. But you never texted me back. I was worried.”
Idris moved aside to allow her to enter
