Meera's POV
After composing and gaining some confidence I told, "Hello Aarsh. Yes it's been a while. How are you?" "Well as you can see I am good, just like the last time we met" he beamed. On one side, I was tensed, confused and a bit annoyed, while on the other side he looked happy, satisfied and a sense o accomplishment lingered on his face, boring a smirk on it. And to be honest, that smirk on his face is boiling my blood as hell. He kept on checking me out, looking at me from head to toe multiple times. I don't know what is there to check out? I mean this is not the first time he is seeing me in his life, but he still can't keep his stare to himself, just like the old days. I huffed and just on the cue he averted his eyes to some place else.
Breaking the silence in the room, Mr.Joshi spoke up, "Do you guys know each other?" "Yes." "No." Aarsh and I said in unison, respectively. Listening to my answer, he first looked amused then hid his 'So you don't know me?' laugh with his palms. God, the nerve of this man! To stop any more further queries by Mr.Joshi, I quickly said, "Actually I know him through a common friend." "And we used to go to same tuition, isn't it Meera?" he asked, making it sound more of a statement, playfully. I just nodded, not understanding what else to do. I don't know whether Mr.Joshi understood the situation or not but he left after a few minutes handing me to my new boss.
"So Meera shall we start?" he asked as soon as I heard the door being closed. I let out the breath that I was holding for a while now, and said, "Listen Aarsh I don't know why am here. I just came for an interview for some other post and ended up being your PA. Aarsh let's forget the past and start afresh. Let's move on and let's not get stuck in the past. I have signed a 2 year contract so please, I request you to let me do my job peacefully. For the sake of our friendship, let's not bother each other with our past." I literally said in one go, not letting him cut me in between.
"I don't understand what you are saying Meera. But to be frank with you I never dreamt that I have to see you in this way. Well, you have maintained yourself pretty well I see. You even lost some weight. Still you look good." "Aarsh please", I cut him there. "No no I didn't want to make you uncomfortable. It's just a normal compliment that you deserve. And about forgetting the past, I have already forgotten about it. I have moved on from whatever I had for you. That day you pretty much made me clear. Well I couldn't show you that I have moved on with Sana, but now, you being here am pretty sure you will be able to see that. And yes let's start afresh" he said getting up from his chair and buttoning up his suit. "Let's us start by introducing each other. Hi. My name is Aarsh. You are Meera. It's nice meeting you. Let's hope we work well together." And with that we shook hands.
To be honest our friendship was never very deep in the past. Most of the time I used to keep my guard up when ever he used to be around. I never really wanted to face Sana's over possessiveness towards her boyfriend. I have seen what lot has Shagun faced. When Aarsh came to talk with me I used to just reply at first, but soon everything changed and turned bad. But today hearing his words, I felt my heart getting hurt I bit. Maybe because I know who he is now, I thought to myself.
We discussed more about the job, basically what I will be facing while working with him. To say I have to take his responsibility, wouldn't be a wrong statement. He wants me to accompany him everywhere possible, mainly outside the country. He honestly confessed me that he needed someone who is actually very fluent in English, as he was not an English medium student in school. And he wanted someone to share some amount of his work load, and it would be only possible if the person has the same qualifications like his, which I do have. And he told me many other reasons for selecting me. All the while he was telling me this, my heart really didn't want to buy his reasons but I shushed it and concentrated on his words further.
After about 30-45 minutes, our discussion was over. Mostly my questions were well answered by him. It felt like he was giving an exam and I was checking his answers. I chuckled lightly, shook his hands in agreement, not to mention when ever he touched me, my mark soothed automatically, even though he touched my other hand. I took his Daily Journal, saw what meeting he had today and quickly moved out to make the preparations.
The day went pretty well, unexpectedly. Having Aarsh as my boss, I didn't expect my day to go that smooth, but then again he told me he has moved on with Sara pretty well, and moreover we started fresh. After 6o'clock I got out of my office, knowing pretty well that it's only because of my first day am getting this privilege. Yes it was a privilege because my duty starts from approximately at 10 o'clock in the morning and ends when my boss say its end for that day. I got out of my building, took a cab, as I was pretty exhausted to take a bus back home, and called Shagun ASAP, I had to break the news to her. She doesn't know about that night, but she knew that both Aarsh and I had an intimidating affect on each other, well mostly his effect on me of course.
"Hey babes. What's up? How was your first day? Please give me some good news." She said as soon as she picked up the call. I told her every thing, from Aarsh being my boss to the terms and conditions of my job and also about the 2 year contract. "One thing I didn't understand at all. How the hell did he become a billionaire bro?" I said her about his uncle and his disease, and she understood without asking any further questions. I sighed, talked to her through out the ride, came home, tried to avoid my father but couldn't. I ended up facing him on the dinner table. I simply told him about the job I have to do, skipping the part that my boss is sort of my friend.
I went to bed, laid for sometime turned to different sides but sleep was far from my eyes. Generally for me, sleep doesn't come easily. It at least takes 10-15 minutes for me to go in deep slumber. But today it has been an hour and no, not yet any sigh of sleep.
God that shitty alarm just woke me up the next morning groggily. I took bath, got ready, had breakfast and soon went to the address given by Aarsh last night. By the area understandable from the address it looks like it's the address of his bungalow. I went there. The bungalow looked stunning from the outside. It's a basically two storey bungalow with a huge garden in front and possibly a swimming pool in the backyard. What a sick joke! The boy who can't swim, rather scared of swimming, has a pool in the backyard. Great! I put my amusement aside, making my self convinced that it's a changed Aarsh and not the Aarsh I knew in college. I quickly went to the huge wooden door, rang the door bell. A maid, around mid thirties opened the door and asked me to sit in the waiting lounge for a while, while she went to Aarsh to inform my arrival. Within few minutes the maid came back and told me that Aarsh asked me to go to his room.
What the hell!
