It's almost 5am.
Derrek was already up early. He wanted to do jogging at the front beach to work up a sweat. He didn't wake up his companions. He wore black cycling shorts, a white shirt, and rubber shoes.
A cold wind greeted him as he left the staff house.
"It's really a paradise," he said while admiring the naked beauty of that island. The sand is white and the water is clear.
He walked to the front beach and started jogging. There weren't many people yet so the area was clear. He also jogged and stretched for more than twenty-five minutes before taking shelter in a coconut tree. It was comfortable to lean on there.
"This is nice. Perfect spot to calm my mind and rest my thoughts," he said as he made his hands into pillows. Soon his eyes were closed. It was nice to sleep in that spot. The sound created by the waves and the strong wind could bring peace to his heart. He woke up when something seemed to touch and flow on his forehead.
"Water!" he exclaimed and immediately adjusted his seat. "Sh*t!"
"Oh no!" shouted the woman who had earlier put water on Derrek's forehead. He was immediately shocked by what he had done because when the young man woke up, he immediately rise up without him noticing, so their foreheads bumped into each other.
"Are you crazy?" Derrek asked him angrily and wiped his forehead. The girl's beautiful teeth showed when she smiled at him. Her face! She looked very similar to her ex-fiancée.
"No! I'm Sabrina," he joked. "But, I guess you are hmm- lwt me guess? Leaving? Right?"
Derrek frowned.
"What? What are you talking about?"
"Oh common! Has the wind blown your brain? I can't share my favorite spot with someone I don't know. Unless, you want me to know you. Do you?" He winked at the young man as if she is teasing him.
Derrek looked at her with disgust
"You're insane! I think you're the one whose brain is blown away."
"Whatever!" she cuts his protest. "Now, what? You're really not leaving there? For your information, that spot is mine. So you can leave now," he ordered her. "Or maybe you don't want to leave because you want me to see me undress in front of you?"
Derrek grinned at her. This girl is totally out of her mind.
"Is this beach and this tree yours? What if I don't leave?"
"Hard headed. Well, let's see. You really don't want to leave?"
"Right.I don't want to!" Derrek said firmly.
Sab was wearing a white see-through robe. She took it from its binding, took it all off and threw it on the sand. Derrek was shocked by what she had done. He could do nothing but stare at the woman's perfect body in her black two-piece.
He raised an eyebrow at him because Derrek still didn't leave the place. She gradually put her arm at her back aiming to undo her bra while she staring at him. Derrek knew exactly what was going to happen so he quickly stood up and ran away.
Sab giggled as soon as she picked up the robe on the sand and put it back on.
"Charming," she whispered to herself with a smile.
"She's totally crazy," Derrek muttered as he took off his shoes.
He would have been relaxing at the front beach if it weren't for that woman. He was convinced it wasn't really Samantha because he can't feel any connection but more of irritation.
"Who's crazy?" Drake suddenly asked, surprising him.
"Ah-no one," he replied shortly. He left his shoes by the front door because it was sandy and put on flip flops. "Just someone I met earlier."
"Is it a he or she?" Drake teased him. It was early but he immediately thought of women.
"Does it matter?" Derrek's voice was uninterested.
"Depends," he replied. He knew what he was getting at. "Is it a woman, bro? If that's the case, can I go with you tomorrow?"
"i***t!" He threw the towel he used directly at Drake's face.
"Hey! I'm just kidding." He chased after him as he walked inside.
"Morning bro," said Levi who had just washed himself. He just gave him a shy smile. He went straight to his room.
"You're so early," Red commented to him, who was also drinking coffee while looking at his cellphone.
"They say the early bird catches the worm," he searched for a change of clothes at the closet.
"So, by any chance have you caught any worms?"
"Do I look like a bird, Red?" he asked laughing.
"Na. Anyway, we are invited tonight to the bar where we will be playing. Their previous band is leaving so the owner wanted us to you know observe and create our own strategy on how to get the audience. Has Levi told you yet?"
He shook his head.
"Not yet. I thought we were already accepted? Why do we still need to observe?"
"They say the club depends on our performance so he wants to make sure he chose the right one. Also, the owner wanted to meet all of us."
He took a sip of coffee from the mug and spoke again. "So we should gain his trust right away."
"Okay. I guess that will be easy since we have it all," he confidently said.
It probably won't be difficult for their band because Derrek's group is good and proven. They just lost a gig because of his mourning.
This time he promise to do his best.
--
"You!" he exclaimed.
Sab wiped his face because Derrek's saliva splashed on him in shock.
"What are you doing here? Let me guess, want to get drunk again? Then, when you lost your consciousness, you're just going to sleep under a tree? Or maybe go with anyone you barely know? Are you that miserable to just throw your life away?" he lectured him without holding back. They had just entered the bar when the two of them met.
Levi, Ian, Red and Foster has the same expression. Their faces were filled with questions because the woman Derrek was talking to looked exactly like Samantha.
None of them could barely utter a word.
