As days go by, I realize that love is only a big illusion and those people who believe in it are all stupid! And yes, I was once a fool to believe in it!
Loving you was my biggest regret and my endless nightmare!
If I am given a chance to bring back the past, I will not ever let myself fall in love with you again!
I will never let myself be deceived by your fake promises and love. I promise not to see you, not to know you, and not to love you. I will not be a fool! Never again! ---Cassandra Taylor
CHAPTER ONE
In a steel wall cell, once again, Cassandra Taylor was imprisoned. For three consecutive days now, she was not able to eat or drink.
She looked around and found that the room only has a clock and a high-technology surveillance camera that can detect sounds.
She shouted for help while struggling to grasp some air.
She had lost all her strength from the continuous torture.
She can hardly breathe. Her body feels cold, yet she has been sweating all over.
"Will you please give me a bottle of water?"
"Please, just water. I am begging you,"
"I'm so thirsty… I think my body can't hold it back anymore."
She pleaded as her energy was drained from having a miscarriage the other day. Her eyes were misty but chose not to let out a loud cry.
Moreover, it was a heartbreaking scene for a mother like her to witness her unborn child's blood-stained on each wall of the room.
She cannot believe that he, as the father of her unborn child, ignored them and even let those people torture and locked them up in this wolf-made hell.
She hissed in pain again. She pitied herself. She cannot help but question herself for being so naive!
She has been asking for help several times, but no one listens to her, not even the alpha who is her husband for god-damned sake!
'Why was my life this miserable? What did I do to deserve this kind of treatment?' She thought.
As far as she could remember, a few days ago, she was just busy doing all the chores in the pack house because as of today, her husband will hold a welcoming celebration for Sandro Gibson.
Sandro Gibson was known to be the strongest warrior and hero of the Black River Moon Pack, who came back from his visit from the werewolf-vampire council in Europe.
She was hoping to meet him but guessed she would not.
She was busy cleaning and organizing things in the pack house but when she went to her husband's study room, her headaches became worse, and she also felt an intolerable pain in her stomach and chest.
She hardly breathes. It was so painful. It has been happening for a couple of days now and she does not understand why it is happening to her.
She already had a consultation with the pack doctor, but the doctor only said that it was normal for humans like her to experience this kind of pain when pregnant, but she believes that it is not the only issue. She has a hunch that it was something more than being pregnant.
As she tried to walk outside to go back and rest in her room, her vision became blurry which caused her to lose her balance and accidentally hit and broke her husband's most valuable vase.
She was so scared. She knows that her husband valued this vase for it was a gift from his ex-lover whose name remains unknown to her.
The sweat hurriedly went out from her hands and body since she was so tense looking at the broken vase. She knows already what kind of punishment she is going to take once someone knows that she has broken it.
Cassandra would like to pick up the debris but was unable to do so since her body would not move.
A few moments later, she heard footsteps outside heading to where she was at. She panicked and immediately picked up the broken pieces and wrapped them in her oversized shirt. She then immediately hid behind the wooden cabinet.
Suddenly, the door of Troy’s study room opened. Cassandra sweats even more due to the stinging wounds on her palm and she cannot help but begin to shed tears as she gently rubs her belly bump.
She cannot help but wonder how she ended from being proud and confident to an anxious and diffident woman.
But her confidence went down from zero to negative when she overheard the pack maid’s conversation.
“It is so nice to see them together, the Alpha and Sandro Gibson’s daughter are indeed fated for each other. They looked so dashing and elegant together,”
“And you know what? I heard from our elders that Sandro Gibson’s daughter was our Alpha’s, first great love. I do not know her name yet, but I hope that I could at least serve her a nice drink tonight,”
“I thought she was dead?”
“That was the thought of everyone as well. But isn’t it amazing, now that our Alpha’s true love comes in, we can now get rid of Cassandra? I bet she will be out of our pack house soon,”
“I hope she will be out of the pack house tonight. A powerless human like her should not be here. She is not worthy to be our Luna. If not because of her parents, our Alpha will not even lay his eyes on her. How pathetic it would be if she thought that we liked her. Tss! Seeing her here makes me curse her more,”
“Hey, just be chill. You might have a heart attack if you keep thinking about her. We should at least be thankful that our beta’s mate is here to discipline her. It is a beautiful scene to see her pleading in her knees, how lowly!”
The two of them giggle and continue to praise the woman whom Cassandra was afraid to meet.
Meanwhile, Cassandra, who was hiding behind the cabinet, felt suffocated. What she heard from the two was overwhelming.
Actually, Cassandra was able to know a little bit about Troy’s ex-girlfriend when he got drunk and accidentally shared his past relationship when they were still dating in college.
However, during those years that they were dating, Cassandra did not bother to ask Troy about his ex-girlfriend’s name or anything about his past relationships because she believes that it is okay not to ask since she remembered Troy mentioning that she was dead.
Besides, she also has great hope and faith in his love for her. Moreover, she is now Troy’s legally wedded wife, and they made a promise before to keep their love strong so no one could ever break it.
But she was wrong. She should have asked him so that she would be wary of things happening around her.
A few moments later, after hearing the maids’ conversations, Cassandra then remembered seeing Troy yesterday, dotingly caressing a familiar woman's face, and was so gentle and affectionate.
Then bit by bit, she remembered that the woman she saw with Troy yesterday was the same woman whom she saw during their wedding. It was that woman whom Troy kissed during her supposed “happy and wonderful day.”
