Trevor woke up the next morning earlier than anyone else as told and headed to the training ground where Daksh was already waiting for him. It was freezing cold outside but Trevor had already developed a resistance to such weather after all the continuous training.
"You know what to do," Daksh said with no form of greeting while pointing to the stack of poles to his side.
Trevor could only sigh and comply. He run laps and laps with the giant pole on his shoulders while Daksh just stood there staring into thin air like no man's business.
When Trevor compared the first day he did this kind of training and this day, he couldn't help but smile. He had improved significantly in less than 3 weeks. Sure on the first day he did better than the other students because he had developed his stamina and strength in his previous dungeon to some extent. But now was just different. The number of laps that made him break a sweat on the first day were at least half the ones that make him break a sweat currently.
After a couple of laps, Trevor dropped the log and walked to Daksh. Not becuae he was exhausted or anything. He hadn't even completed the laps he was supposed to do that morning.
He just lacked the patience to keep on playing along; he needed to speed up the dungeon as much as possible so he could leave.
Daksh, even without turning his head, had noticed Trevor approaching him but still chose to stare into empty space.
"Why did you stop? Have you lost count on how many laps your supposed to do?"
"I was supposed to do 50"
Trevor's unwavering answer pulled Daksh attention, "And how many have you done?"
"10 sir!"
Daksh raised his brow in surprise but didn't say anything else. Something about the boy's sudden attitude told him that he still had a lot to hear from him.
"I heard you are from the southern continent," Trevor said boldly.
This time Daksh was taken by surpsrise. "How did he know, other than him, no one else knows where I'm from. If he knows this, he surely knows what my intentions are!"
Daksh couldn't hide the complicated emotions behind his calm smile any more.
"And who told you that?" he asked with a deep frown.
"It's not important."
"I know that you were originally from this continent but decided to cross over because of the suppression of the non magic holders. I also know that you have reached your peak on cultivation and the fact that you restored to physical combat to minimize your weakness. You returned back to the northern continent to earn for your family... I just don't see why you had to get involved between me and Wizard Dira. I know Dira has a use for me and if you had to get involved, it means you too have a use for me. Tell me what you intend to use my assistance for and I might as well consider picking you over him. "
"What were the conditions I told you yesterday?"
Trevor was a little confused by this: As he was still thinking of an answer, Daksh yelled his question again causing Trevor to gulp in shock.
"WHAT WERE THE CONDITIONS I TOLD YOU YESTERDAY!"
"You must be persistent and flexible, humble and respectful towards others sir!" Trevor didn't know why but Daksh's yell at that moment put him at attention. It was like he did not have control over his body anymore.
"I DID NOT HEAR YOU!"
"YOU MUST BE PERSISTENT AND FLEXIBLE, HUMBLE AND RESPECTFUL TOWARDS OTHERS, SIR!" Trevor repeated with a raised voice.
With all the people he could experience this, it had to be Daksh. Previously, when he saw this same scene with Logan, he found it funny and almost laughed. But now that it was happening to him, he did not like it one bit.
"So do you think you are being respectful and humble?" Daksh asked, this time in his usual calm voice.
There was something in Daksh's righteousness that made Trevor feel guilty.
"No sir!" he answered in shame not daring to look Daksh in the face.
"Good..... Judging from the way you were talking, it is evident you have had this conversation with the wizard. But Trevor, you have a lot to learn in this world. You shouldn't be quick to act. Be humble and respectful till the last minute! Do not let power make you disrespect anyone. You should consider yourself lucky Gira did not come out when you confronted Dira. "
Trevor shuddered at the mention of Gira! He recollected what happened the day he came out clearly. Honestly, Trevor wouldn't guard around Dira if Gira hadn't come out that day. He would have most likely gone with Dira's quest path without hesitation.
"I can feel you're energy is stronger than before. You're still seeing the wizard even after my warning...." Daksh turned away from Trevor with his hands crossed over his chest.
Trevor wanted to defend Dira but Daksh continued his lecture;
" And here's a little warning for you! Never judge a book by its cover! If you've met Gira, you must know that he seems darker than his brother. Well, they are both the same if not Dira's worse. Yes, the same wizard you know and think of as kindhearted and easy going is not what he seems. Dira and I have had a dark path. A dark path that you are also following. All I can advise you now is, once you have reached gold rank, cut off all ties with the wizard!"
After saying all that, Daksh walked away towards the exit," Continue your training! That's an order! "
Eventually, he disappeared from Trevor's sight.
"Well... That didn't go as expected!" Ephraim said sarcastically and playfully as usual!
Trevor always felt like his new companion was holding in its laughter when it made that tone.
"I'm definitely going with Daksh!" Trevor decided confidently; but then his confidence wavered. "But he said I should now judge a book by its cover. What if Daksh is just pretending to be righteous?"
"But still, he might be right about Dira. If what Dira said was the truth, it would have shown on his character card."
"So is Dira the wrong pillar? No, what if Daksh is the wrong pillar, he hasn't answered my question. He hasn't told me what he intends to use me for..."
The boys thoughts were all over the place!
"You know, you might get a brain stroke if you continue like this. Just go with both for now like the dungeon AI said. If what Daksh said is true, then you should be safe for the time being until you reach gold rank. All you have to worry about now is how you are going to get Daksh to teach you all he knows. According to me, you've lost your teachers respect!" Ephraim reassured Trevor in a comforting tone. The boy was kinda impressed he didnt say anything sarcastic. Infact he made a point! Trevor needed to find a way of getting Daksh to teach him everything he knew.
Unbeknowest to Trevor, there was a certain someone that had been watching him from the moment he went to the training field. It was Logan. He had his fist clenched to his side.
"Why?!" he said through his gritted teeth.
