Chapter 30: Complaints

2112 Words
Just when Jastrick was about to launch in, Daksh three his sword to the side with a mocking grin. He then removed the guards on his arms and legs and tossed them to the side. After, he removed his chest plate. "You might be a promising magic user from a prominent family. You might even surpass me in that aspect. You see, I don't come from a wealthy background and I knew from long time my magic would have a limit.; that's why I perfected my fighting to the best and still ongoing. I don't need magic to beat you even when I'm blind folded. " After Daksh said this, he untied the head band on his forehead and wrapped it over his eyes. Jastrick simply scoffed at his actions and only had one thought in mind," He does know how to blow his trumpet! Does he think I'll just back down after that speech! I will humiliate him and show him no ordinary person can match up to Whitely's" The students who knew about Jastrick and his background thought the same. The reason for being in the same low level lessons as them was simple, Jastrick was one of the youngest in their family's generation and had recently joined magic School. Still, he was several times stronger than them. He had siblings and relatives in higher levels who were even more powerful but they rarely met eye to eye. Powerful families like his always tended to protect their pride so the students and some teachers took note not to offend them. "Alright, shall we start!" Daksh announced after tying the last knot behind his head. Jastrick didn't waste any time charged in straight. His glowing magic stick separated into three segments but were still joined by a thin glowing string of energy. He swung his new nunchucks about, making beautiful yet deadly patterns. The distance between them shortened rapidly and Daksh was faced head on with the deadly magic weapons. They swung in a trajectory that aimed for his chin. Suddenly, he jumped backwards and landed 10 meters away from Jastrick. "You know, if you want to get at least one hit on me, you gotta try something better." "Fine!" Jastrick roared and immediately, the glow on his stick turned yellow and flame energy gathered at the ends. With every swing, a flurry of flames where sent flying towards Daksh. But the latter avoided them with very slight movements that made it look like the flames where avoiding him instead. "A lot of our time is being wasted here, don't you think." Suddenly Daksh disappeared from his spot and appeared next to Jastrick who was dumbfounded by his sudden movement. Before he knew it, his vision turned black, passing out. Daksh later untied the blind fold and tied it on his fire head again, just below his hair line. After, he knelt down and applied some pressure on the back of Jastrick's neck, making him gain consciousness. "You have to learn to respect everyone. Even though they are weaker than you. Never underestimate anyone because you might find someone who might prove you wrong! Leave!" he ordered. Although Jastrick was beyond humiliated, he contained his anger and moved to the side to allow the exercise continue. After an hour of sparing with the trainers, a list was arranged to group students according to their performance. " We are going to group you into two categories, the ordinary, then the special. If you are evaluated in the ordinary, step to the left side, and special step to the right side." * After the roll call Daksh looked at the two categories to make sure everything was alright. "Alright that's it." he nodded in conformation. "It's a pity only five of you managed to make it to the special category." he looked at the handful on the special category. All of them having muscular bodies apart from one who was average. But his combat technics where top notch. Daksh sighed in disdain," This is going to be a long course. " " Brother Trevor, Jastrick sure is lucky to join the special category." Tony commented. But only received a nod from Trevor who was also categorized in the ordinary class. "Forget about Jastrick. Did you see how that last boy fought against Master Daksh. It's like he has been fighting ever since he was born. I bet he can finish off Jastrick within 10 moves." Rose said. Those who heard their conversation couldn't help but agree with her. " Alright. Enough chit chat. Time for business. If you thought Rachuos school was going to be an easy walk in the bush. You were wrong." Daksh wore a serious expression this time. Putting aside his playful mode he had earlier, he instructed one of the gladiators standing beside him to take the special five away. And with that, they were led to a different part of the field. After standing outside for some time and the sun not rising, most people started getting chills all over their bodies. Trying to activate their basic warmer spells, they were stopped by Daksh; "No magic! First rule. Don't even think about magic. Second rule!" Displeased murmers raised after Daksh said this. Daksh simply smirked at the poor students. "Now you know how serious this is going to be. If you think you can't handle it. Feel free to talk to the wizard Dira." And with this statement, everyone kept quiet. Those who intended to complain at first had no choice but to keep their words to them selves and obey. " That's more like it. " "Now....ten Laps around the field." he said. Everyone didn't hesitate as they started running. "Ten Laps. That's easy." "Yeah your right" But Daksh yelled at them to come back. "Why has he called us back?" one confused student asked no one in particular. Seeing everyone was back, Daksh pointed towards a pile of big thick wooden poles. No one moved as they looked at where Daksh pointed. "What are we supposed to do with those?" one of them asked. "Good question....." he smirked, "Carry them on your shoulders." Everyone was a little hesitant as they gaped at the size of those things. But then Daksh's loud yelling brought them back to reality, "Now!" Immediately, they ran over to the poles and struggled until they were finally on their shoulders. "This is child abuse." Trevor cursed to himself when he felt how heavy the objects were. But what could he do. Though the girls carried lighter poles, they were still heavy for them. If this was already difficult, he could only imagine how Jastrick and his band where taking it. They must have been given double their workout. After 3 hours of training, many hadn't completed their Laps with very few who passed out. Those who didn't complete were told that they would be adding their remaining laps to their next training. Angering many of them. They slowly proceeded to take their baths before going for their classes completely fatigued. By the end of the day, everyone lay in their beds completely paralyzed. They couldn't feel their bodies. Trevor tried practicing his illusions but couldn't make it. Even with the help of Isaac who had fairly learnt it, he couldn't make out any image. Not even a dot. "It looks like in order for me to do the magic in here, I'll have to get a tasbar first." he thought to himself. He slowly drifted off to sleep. The screeching alarm woke everyone up very early the next morning before the sun had even risen. After the torture they went through the day before, everyone's night mare was hearing that sound. They attended the laborious training once again. "I'm sick and tired of all this. It's a good thing I sent a messenger dove to my family yesterday." "Me too. They'll soon be here to complain." Many students complained as the walked through the school's halls after the training. Latter that day in the after noon as everyone was on a break, a ray of hope lit up in the students. Flying mounts started landing on the school's grounds one by one. With well dresses nobles riding them. "Finally. This has to stop." the students' faces lit up. Their rich parents had finally arrived. Making their way to the school's headmaster's office, they attracted a crowd where ever they passed. "Esteemed wizard Dira. The students' parents have arrived with complaints of the new training plan. What should we do." Daksh said as he entered Dira's office. "Ahhh. As expected." Dira who stood by the glass window on his office on the 8th floor looking at the scene outside said. "Since they are quite crowd. I can't have them all in my office." he turned around to look at Daksh, "Have them wait for me in the dining hall." "Alright." Daksh bowed a bit before turning to leave. "We want to speak to the headmaster. Where is he, this is outrageous. Does he know who I am?" The first thing that greeted Daksh right after he stepped out of the office was a group of angry parents. "He will be with you shortly follow me" Daksh said. "Who does he think he is to have us waiting like this?" one of the angry parents said before activating a spell. Green rings illuminated his arms as he was prepared to fight Daksh. "Please esteemed sir. Behave like a gentleman. We know you're all angry but we have your explanations with us. Don't cause a scene. Follow me and the head master will be with you shortly." Although faced off against powerful people, Daksh didn't feel the slightest of fear as he talked to the angry parents. The reason was a simple one; although he was a weak magic user, the combat training he went through enabled him to be on par with the strongest magic users. In a bid to protect their pride, they listened and followed him accordingly. After 10 minutes of waiting, servants brought in some snacks for them as the Wizard Dira entered the hall and approached his seat on an elevated areas at the end of the hall. Everyone stayed quiet as they watched the man before them walk to his seat. His staff making a click sound against the Mable floor everytime it hit it. "Thank you all for waiting." the wizard said,"Am sorry for keeping you waiting." "Enough of this. Let's cut to straight to the point." one of the parents yelled. *Outside the hall* "That serves Dira right." "Not to mention that arrogant Daksh." "They thought they would work us like animals." "They deserve whatever they are getting." "I kinda feel sorry for him." Because of this incident, lessons had been canceled until the next day. * "I know you're all angry but am not at fault here." Dira smiled at them. "Then who are you trying to shift the blame to. We're withdrawing our children from this damp you call a school." Dira didn't get insulted by the arrogance of the creatures before him. Instead he smiled at their stupidity. "Hehe. Blame the country. I have no problem with you withdrawing from the school. But I would just like to inform you that whichever school you'll be headed to, you will find the same problem." "What do you mean by that?" the temper the parents had seemed to be dissipating. "The Council of Mages made this decision." Murmurs filled the atmosphere in the hall when they heard the "Council of Mages." "Yes. The council of mages. Made this decision and all schools in Tenkai have under gone this change. There's nothing we can do about it. They came to this decision because most meges known aren't proficient with physical combat. And a study showed that Mages who underwent combat training can rival those Mages a rank above them and defeat them easily. " Dira smiled at the shocked faces. " Of you don't believe me, you can go find that out yourselves. " " And if your children fill its too much. They are free to leave any time. " And with that Dira strode out of the hall to attend to his own affairs. The parents who had come planning to show the wizards their wrath, climbed their mounts completely ashamed and left with out a single word. " What happened?" "Just like that?" "Why have they done nothing?" "What has the wizard told them?" The wizard's voice echoed through the entire school, "Everyone go have a rest. And. Prepare for tomorrow. Nothing has changed.
