"What the!" "You gotta be kidding me! So we're still going to go through this pointless nonsense again." "Why does this have to happen?" The students expressed their displeasure with whatever was going on. The slaves on the other hand did not care one bit. It wa either the training then getting freedom, or work your ass off all day for eternity. Of cause they would choose the first option.
At this moment , Trevor had made his way to library to research on the gibberish Issac was talking.
"Hello, how may I help you?" an old librarian asked when she noticed Trevor walk in. "Hello. I would like to read books about mage ranks please." Trevor said politely. "Ahhh..... I see. Follow me." the librarian said as she led Trevor through the path ways in between the numerous shelves. They finally arrived at the shelf where the class books were. The shelf looked dusty and the books where covered with cobwebs. Seeing Trevor stare at the dusty shelf, the librarian explained;"No body reads books about ranks these days. That's why this shelf is a mess. You surprised me when you asked about them given the fact everyone in Tenkai knows about classes." "Oh okay." The librarian blew the dust off the books causing Alex to cough a bit as he waved his hand around the air to prevent the dust from reaching him. "Here." the librarian handed over five books to Trevor. Then led him to a room next door where he could read them in peace. "You can read them from here. Incase you need any help. Don't be shy to call." saying that, the librarian smiled and left. "Okay... Which one should I start with?" he pondered as he looked at the pile of five books. He checked the titles of the books before him. Of which he latter selected the biggest one that titled "Ranks, Category, Subranks and classes." He spent an hour reading through the book getting a better understanding of the situation here although he had only gone through 50pages during that time.
There were a total of 6 different ranks and tasabars. A tasabar was an almost invisible marking on one's right upper arm. And it came in different shapes and sizes respective of the ranks.
The ranks with their tasabars were as follows; stone rank which had a circular tasabar, iron rank which had a circular tasabar but only bigger, bronze rank which was special since it had two kinds of tasabars, horizontal and vertical, then there was the silver rank with a square tasabar, then the gold and fine gold rank which had X-shaped and triangle shaped tasbars respectively.
All these ranks had access to elemental magic namely; earth, wind, fire and water but could only cultivate one for their life time.
Those starting from silver rank upwards could cultivate an additional sister element along with their official elements. For example a person who cultivated fire could advance and produce lightning too, Water would advance and produce ice, etcetera.
Though there were reported cases of a few people able to cultivate more than one of the main elements.
At this moment as the sun set and the darkness came in. Trevor felt an immense aura behind him. Slowly looking behind him, there stood The wizard Dira looking down at him as he stroke his beared. Hurriedly standing up, Trevor greeted him with a bow;"Esteemed wizard Dira. My respect"
"mm." the wizard nodded slightly, "Why aren't you in your room?" though his voice wasn't loud, the vibration it made could be heard from a distance away. Even Trevor who had undergone a life and death situation felt the pressure from it. "Esteemed wizard. I had decided to utilize this time and do some research." "Hmm I see. Your reading about classes." "Yes esteemed wizard."
"Why... By now everyone knows about classes. Even a 1 year old knows about this?"
Trevor stammered as he tried to explain. But he didn't know where to start. "I couldn't help but notice, you don't posses a tasabar yet I have reports of you using magic. Why is that? You can tell me. Trust me." the wizard enlightened his aura slightly making Trevor feel a little comfortable. "I don't know esteemed wizard. That's why I came here to research on it." Trevor said. Although it was a lie, it was still the half truth.
"Hmmm.... I'll help you with that. For now go have some rest. I'll research on this matter." Trevor didn't dare go against the wizard's words and left the library heading straight to his hostel.
"hmmm. This isn't as simple as it looks. I'll have to get to the bottom of this sooner or later. " The wizard said stroking his long white beard wisely as he watched Trevor' s back.
As Trevor proceeded to his hostel, he met Jastrick along the way. "Hey brat. No one's there to save you this time." he sneered as he walked to Trevor intimidating him along with his two minions. Trevor simply turned around and stared at Jastrick then at the two of his companions then proceeded with where he was going. The playful sneer on Jastrick's face dissipated and was replaced with a chilling killing intent. How dare that poor brat ignore him! "Brat, get your ass over here. Or else.." Trevor halted in his steps and asked, "Or else what?" The anger on Jastrick only intensifies after that statement. "You sure are arrogant for a poor brat like you....ill teach you a lesson today. Not even Wizard Dira will be able to stop me this time." Trevor turned around and smirked playfully;"You sure are arrogant for a wealthy pampered brat like yourself. You think you can beat me?"
Jastrick's face turned red in anger every sentence Trevor said only made him angrier. He immediately un-sheathed his magic weapon and prepared to attack Trevor. "Tsk.. Tsk.. Tsk. Not here boy. If I beat you from here you'll get really ashamed and your reputation will go down rapidly." Trevor shook his head playfully. "Who does this brat think he is? Jastrick, just finish him off."
Jastrick raised up his palm indicating for his companion to stay quiet;."Alright then....where do you want this fight to take place?" "hmmm.....why not head to the training ground." Having said that, Trevor and Jastrick proceeded to the training ground. With Jastrick's companions keeping guard. "So let's make this quick.... I'll make it easy for you. You can use whatever weapon you want. I'll use my fists." Trevor yawned. "Why you little brat!" anger only kept boiling up in Jastrick whenever Trevor said something. He immediately launched an attack at Trevor but then, "Wait." Trevor said halting Jastrick's attack. "I have one condition." "Speak brat." to Jastrick this little brat was just irritating. "If I beat you, no more causing trouble for me and my friends. And whatever happens here stays here."he paused," Well unless you want your reputation to suffer"
"Fine."
"Good. We can begin." Jastrick planned to show Trevor no mercy this time. Quickly joining his two magic weapons to form one, he swung it towards Trevor. Trevor didn't make an attempt to block it. As it was only a centimeter from him, he did a side step and the attack landed on the ground causing debris to fly. Having realized his attack had not landed on its target, Jastrick followed up with a side swing targeting Trevor's head. "That brat sure has angered Jastrick this time. Now he only has one ending, death." "He shouldn't die. That would be to simple. He needs to break all his bones so he knows his level.". Jastrick's friends mocked Trevor with evil sneers. Second attack failed! Third attack failed! Jastrick got frustrated as Trevor dodged every one of his attacks so gracefully. A holographic red light encased Trevor's fists as Jastrick's magic weapon was about to land successfully on his face. He raised his right hand above his face to guard himself at a rate faster to a naked eye. Peng! "Why is he still standing? Which move is that?" "I haven't seen that spell anywhere!" Jastrick's friend's mouths gaped in shock replaying the scene before them. And trying their best to recall if they knew about the spell Trevor used. "He actually blocked it!" Jastrick's pupils dilated in shock. His hand was already numb now from the impact. Trevor's lip raises to one side forming a wicked smile;"You've had your fun it's now my turn." Jastrick's spine shivered as Trevor mentioned those words. Trevor swung his left fist to Jastrick's cheek only stopping a centimeter away. Although he didn't land the punch, the air that followed that punch was tremendous as it caused shock waves on Jastrick's cheeks and his hair to sway.
"really powerful!"Jastrick exclaimed as he felt the breeze coming from Trevor's punch. " I would have killed you if I wanted. You should thank me. Have a good night. "Trevor said deactivating the attack encasing spell then left leaving behind a group of three terrified boys.
If only they knew Trevor wasn't as powerful as he just displayed himself to be and only possessed a few seconds of magic, they wouldn't be so reverent towards him.
"I must make sure they don't hear about this." Jastrick swore inwardly, suddenly recalling the words Daksh bestowed upon him after his humiliating defeat.
"But, he's just a slave, how is he this powerful."
"Jastrick, why did you let that brat off." one of the boys chimed in. "Yeah, you should have used your fire." said another.
"Shut up!" ordered Jastrick. He knew full well that he had gone all out. Although he hadn't used his magic externally, rather internally to strengthen and quicken his body, he still paled out in comparison to Trevor. Even if he used his fire externally, Trevor would have been able to avoid it just like Daksh did. Trevor had performed a move Daksh had performed that day; only at a lower level.
"Its that footwork!"
