Chapter 33: The School Director

1537 Words
A week passed by slowly and painfully. With some students leaving the school because of the hard training. This situation happened all around various schools in Tenkai. But eventually, they would come back to school, for the situation was like that everywhere. It was already late in the evening as Trevor sat by his dedicated desk in the library reading room The candle light cast his shadow along the wall till the ceiling. Since Trevor had no tasabar, he was a mere magicless human in this dungeon. Which meant the lessons he attended held no benefit to him since he couldn't practice what was being taught. But this didn't mean that it wouldn't help him in the future. He attended every lesson and tried his best to memorize them. At this moment however, the librarian told Trevor that the headmaster had summoned him to his office. Without further delay, Trevor finished up what he was doing and headed straight to the head master's office. It had been a while since Trevor last had a conversation with the wizard Dira. And that was the previous week in the library. Ever since then, he hadn't made contact with him. Now that he had summoned him, there had to be something urgent. Otherwise, why would the esteemed wizard waste his time on a lowly being like him. Trevor knocked on the door twice before hearing the wizard's majestic voice from the other side of the door telling him to come in. Slowly opening the door, Trevor caught sight of the Wizard standing by the floor to ceiling window looking at the sky. With the moon's light falling on his majestic white robe. Making him look like a powerful moon God. "Esteemed wizard, you summoned me?" Trevor bowed after shutting the door behind him. "Yes." the wizard slowly turned around and looked at Trevor, "This matter concerning your current condition." "What do you mean sir?" "Your tasabar...." the wizard stroke his long white beard wisely, "It is a rare situation that hasn't happened since long time ago. " For a moment there, Trevor was caught in a daze. Not because of what the wizard said, but because he meant every last word when he said he would investigate it. But then again, why would he even go through with it. Surely he wasn't doing it to feed his curiosity or pass his time. Trevor knew that the wizard had an agenda and he played a role in it. "Did you find out anything esteemed wizard?" "hmmm...." the wizard walked to desk where a book lay opened with a candle placed at each corner of the book. Even with a single glance, one could tell this book wasn't ordinary. Trevor had noticed the book lying on his desk earlier and thought that maybe the wizard had done a ritual or was preparing to. But it was none of his business, so he didn't care about it. "I've been carrying out rituals to determine the truth about you. But unfortunately they all failed. Even if you were just a normal human, it would have shown. But the results were unknown. Which further leads me to suspect that this is a serious issue." Trevor fell into thought for a second. In the real world, he hadn't noticed any tasabar on Redessis who wore a sleeveless dress during the chat. Even though a tasabar was had to notice, Trevor always had a sharp eye and could notice one easily, which was the case with Tony. This only meant there was a difference between tasabars in this dungeon and the ones in the real world. Or, tasabars didn't even exist in the real world. Just then he thought, why would the wizard call him here if all he wanted to talk about was a failed attempt. "Wizard Dira, you didn't call me here to tell me about failed attempts, is there anything else you wish to tell me, sir?" he asked respectfully. "Since this matter is out of my capabilities, there's only one way left. And that is to visit Mount Sogar." As the wizard said these words he seemed to have lowered his voice a lot. "Is Mount Sogar a forbidden place?" Trevor asked himself when he saw the way the wizard behaved when he suggested those words. "But..... This matter remains between the both of us. No one should learn that I let a slave out of the school." Trevor simply nodded. "But he is the one in charge of the school, why would he be afraid of this leaking out. He is the one with the most power in this school." Trevor asked him self in thought. "Good. But in in order to get what we desire, you have to be with significant strength as you will be required to complete a test. It can prove challenging. Are you willing to proceed?" the wizard said, not intending to hide anything from Trevor. "Yes." "Good! We leave tomorrow after your training." And with that, Trevor left the office and headed straight to his room. "Bro..... Where have you been?" asked Isaac. "I had been summoned by the headmaster," Trevor said truthfully. "Which kind of trouble did you get yourself in this time?" "Nothing, it's just that I spoke up against the training and he heard me. So I had some explaining to do." "Hahaha..." Isaac laughed at the foolish Trevor,"I told you your impulsive behavior would put you in trouble one day." * The piercing wails of the school's Gile filled the atmosphere once again, early in the morning. The students groaned as they woke up from their sleep, washed their faces in displeasure and headed straight for the gruesome training once again. After a week, most of the students had adjusted to the training. And the more they adjusted, the more they increased their workload. That way they would never find the training easy. But just then, as they were done with the training and were headed to their respective classrooms, the piercing wails sounded again. "What's the matter this time?" "Aren't we supposed to head to class now?" "Don't tell me the training has been increased again!" The students asked themselves in disbelief. "Attention! All students to the assembly point. All students to the assembly point." a voice echoed through out the school, "Lessons have been canceled today." "Lessons? Canceled?" "Why?" "Don't tell me we are going in for day training. " The students said to themselves as they headed to the said location. The wizard Dira stood on the raised platform gracefully holding his staff and stroking his beard. "Sorry for the unexpected notice. Today, will be your assessment. Head to the main training field now, " Dira swept his eyes around the students, "His esteemed director of the Rachuos school, Merza, will be here shortly. Do your best!" Everyone gaped at the name Merza. He was a powerful person in society and owned many businesses including the Rachuos school. But obviously having that many businesses meant he would be busy so he didn't have the time to check on the school. Leaving it in the care of the Wizard Dira. The rumors have it, he fought with a powerful beast and emerged victorious. Though the fight left him with a scar stretching across his face for ever. "Hmmm..... So that's why he wants no one to know of what his up to." Trevor said to himself. Everyone got hyped up when they thought of Merza. Swearing to try their best to impress him. Who knew, they might even get exempted from their gruesome training. But they didn't even know what type of assessment they would be doing. At this moment, everyone had gathered at the training grounds and spared with themselves as they prepared for the arrival of the director. Later that afternoon, the awaited person arrived. Merza majestically walked to his designated red chair in a location where he could oversee all the activities at the training ground. He wore a luxurious red robe and his hair combed backwards and held together with a band forming a pony tail. He looked to be in his 30s. His well shaped and sturdy body served as proof he underwent some intense workout. His pale white skin and black eyes made him look like the vampires mentioned in novels. The scar stretching across his face served as proof that he wasn't someone to be messed with. He took his seat gracefully and looked at the activities taking place. With two soldiers standing on either side of his chair, he looked like the overlord of Tenkai. "Dira," he called out. Causing everyone to gape in shock. He didn't bother showing any respect for the all mighty wizard. This only showed to prove the man before them ought to be powerful for him to speak to the almighty wizard in such a way. Having guessed the reason he was being called, the wizard drew three lines of rune in the air before they lit up with a golden dazzling glow and dissipating into thin air; "Let the event begin." His majestic voice could be heard from every corner of the vast training field!
